IIRC it was all junk.

Anyways, I'm in. Can't decide if I want to start with a barb or a sorc, but those are the two best for early mf runs.

Welp, game crashed a while back.  Did some work. Now I can't get back in.  Whenever I try to create a game, it gets to a loading screen then crashes to the desktop.

Diablo 2 suffering some serious launch pains, but fortunately they can be avoided by going into offline mode.

I've read that at least on switch you have to go online once to be able to play, and some people can't do that.

I'm still on the fence, it's not a game I've played before so I have no nostalgia for it. I did enjoy the third one for a bit.

People didn't automatically go into offline mode to just go and play the main game? Also, not sure why, but the URL you provided doesn't seem to work?

The nearest I could find on RPS was this: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/diablo-2-resurrected-characters-keep-disappearing-among-many-launch-issues

I've started a Pally, but I can't decide how I want to spec him... so I'm sitting here with six talent points.

And what's this "Reset Talent/Skill Points"?!!?  What kind of softcore shit is this?  :lmao:

I stopped playing somewhere between 5 and 10 years ago and it was a part of the game then. How long has it been since you last played?

No issues on my first attempt. Back into the breach!

It's one of the best games of all time, but it is very repetitive. Thankfully over the years they've added a ton of things to do after you go through all three difficulties.

Sorry for the triple post, but I was not expecting a hard reboot. I figured they would have incorporated a lot of things from D3, but nope, this is a pure cut of the old game, just with better graphics (and it's kind of cool that you can turn the old ones on if you want).

I’m going to say 2008… I think.

I don’t remember that. :dunno:

It's an item you hold in your inventory like the cube. It gives one toon type +3 all skills and a ton of extra shit.

https://diablo.fandom.com/wiki/Hellfire_Torch

They added a ton of shit to the game since then, including kind of adding an abridged version of the entire D1 game to it as a bonus mission you can do.

I haven't played a lot of games like Diablo 2--Van Hesling maybe, and Hades, I hear, has similarities. I also got Diablo 3 in the pack. So, controller or keyboard? I am finding as I get older, I far prefer a controller, but I know some of these games aren't feasible (or possible) with a controller.

One site now has a bundle with the entire "Learn Japanese to survive!" trilogy. Yes, I got that to kick myself in the butt a bit more when it comes to memorizing characters, which is honestly the most annoying part when you are already very busy with your job.

Well, what can I say about the story of the first one? It's a RPG maker JRPG where an evil wizard terrorizes a village with monsters shaped like Hiragana that can only be damaged by attaching their Romaji to your attacks. Since that is the one system where I already feel secure with, the first levels I was able to instantly steamroll. Looking at the battle screen, it seems at some point a Pokémon like status effect system will get added later on. We'll see how that goes.^^ So far I find it very relaxing.

I almost started Diablo 2 last night, but I've been replaying DQ11 (I guess the extended version this time?), and I got to my favorite part about a third of the way through:

Spoiler

When Hendrick joins you--what a cool character! It's like General Leo doesn't die and joins your fight against Kefka!

I can't stop playing this game. Last time, I got really close to the ending, but I never finished it. I'm going to do it this time!

I feel like the extended version of this game (I can't remember it's actual title) is a bit easier and more forgiving in the rng elements of DQ games that could make them frustrating. I won big in the casino with just a couple of hours spent there--enough that I bought all the items they offered. Metal enemies seem to run much less. I feel like being able to forge anywhere you go is also a new addition, plus the crafting of items seems a bit easier.

I decided against buying D2R. I still play a couple hours a week of D2 with the PD2 overhaul, which I consider a truly well-balanced version of D2. Love the updated graphics and got to see the bosses and cutscenes on Twitch, but I am uninterested in abandoning my many-hundred-hour Solo self-found hoard for the currently useless BNet servers.

In the meantime I have hit a wonderful point in No Man's Sky where I am content to just fly around new planets, mine and forage, and learn new alien words. I have a simple base, and I know there's absolute loads of content coming up, but for now the pace is just perfect. In a few more sessions I'll plunge forward with the plot to unlock more building stuff.

Still haven't tried out the Valheim new content - it's such a similar vibe to NMS that it's on a back burner for another month or two.

I thought I'd licked the Deathloop random crashes with some setting tweaks someone suggested online. Although it's more stable, it will still just crash for no reason, and given the absence of a quicksave button it's very easy to lose half an hour's progress, as just happened.

Phenomenal game, dogshit release.

I haven't had any issues on PS5. Definitely agree that it's an awesome game though.

“Puts on self-pitying hat”

Still no PS5 for me :crying:

Edit: I actually had it in my Walmart account cart once. I was ignorant enough at the time to not know it wasn’t safe. I didn’t hurry enough at checkout, and I was informed the device was sold out.
