It has always been the name afaik.

It may have been, but up until now the vaccine has been referred to as “the Pfizer vaccine”, but with approval the push is in to call it by its official name.

Hardly the first reason to say this, but, man, fuck the Chicago PD...

I do wonder if this will do longterm damage to the unions (and not just the police unions, there's a lot of teacher unions being just as vocally anti-mandate). They're doing this because they do have some extremely anti-vax members, but at the same they all have tons of members who have gotten vaccinated. And I'm really curious just how much nonsense the pro-vax members will put up with on this issue. This isn't like other union issues, where usually pretty much all the members are going to be united.

I actually had to clear a post I had previously started write to post in this thread, about the Toronto Police Union coming out and proclaiming, flat out, that they were opposed to mandatory vaccination. No reason given, yet.

Police solidarity!

The FDA formal approval dated August 23 formally named the vaccine Comirnaty, the vaccine “has been known as the Pfizer-Biontech COVID-19 Vaccine”.

The planned name was announced in December, 2020. Previously it was only known as tozinameran.

Comirnaty.

Remember that name.

Now that it’s been approved, it’s the name of the Pfizer vaccine. A marketing person (team?) came up with a mash-up of Covid, mRNA and community. Apparently. Allegedly.

And they couldn't have done a more failing job of naming if they actually worked at doing so.  Good frackin' grief.

It is always been Comirnaty here in Germany . Its on the vaccination certification of my mother in January. But then , we alway had approval (though conditional) and not emergency use here.

That would fit in with the December, 2020 announcement of the name. I guess it couldn’t be used in the US until it’s status became approved.

FINALLY got my second jab of Comirnaty! Got lucky with the doc this time; no pain whatsoever so far. Well, maybe it was because the first time they had to get that Bill Gates chip in.

Now, where's my booster shot?! Who cares about the rest of the world, right?!

My certificate (from July) actually has no mention of Pfizer at all. The vaccine isComirnaty and the producer is BionTech ;)

Why, yes, I do believe we discussed here, that again, this year, Sturgis Motorcycle rally would be a super spreader, even prior to the event!  And, guess what, so indeed it is.

In western South Dakota’s Meade County, more than one in three COVID-19 tests are currently returning positive, and over the last three weeks, seven-day average case counts have increased by 3,400 percent. This exponential growth in cases is likely attributable to the 81st Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which drew an estimated half a million visitors to Meade County and its environs from Aug. 6 through 15, potentially acting as a superspreader event.

The pandemic is surging nationally, not just proximal to biker chaos in South Dakota. Defined in large part by the emergence of the highly transmissible Delta variant, the United States is experiencing its fourth surge of COVID-19 right now, and our nationwide case counts have increased by 64.4 percent over the last 21 days. (For more on our methodology, see our note at the bottom of this column.)

But while Southern states have been the main drivers of this surge thus far, the recent spike in cases in South Dakota warrants special concern.

The state more broadly has witnessed a 686.8 percent increase in daily case counts over the past three weeks, currently more than 10 times the nationwide rate. Meade County’s post-Sturgis uptick is certainly a contributor to this state-level increase, but neighboring counties have experienced a sharp incline in cases, too—ranging from a 1,900 percent increase in the past three weeks in Butte to a 1,050 percent increase in Lawrence. . . .

Well, only fell sick the day after the second jab (Moderna). But that was literally one bad day (fever, shivering, nausea). But that was easily manageable with paracetamol.

On that note.

I am curious what happened to @lessthanluke and his moderna adventure. I recall him having lost out on the side effect roullette (being hit hard by his first jab). Care to provide an update, or do I have to come up with Welsh joke, first? :P

Is it true that Dr Robert Karas of Karas Correctional Institute, Arkansas, prescribed dewormer to inmates and employees? I’ve read that he gets people to fill the prescriptions at his on site family pharmacy. He refuses to stop, unless the Sheriff tells him to.

Sounds true.

Jail Doc Defends Prescribing Dewormer To Inmates For COVID, Despite FDA Warning

“There’s a greater risk of dying from COVID than there is dying from the medication,” Rob Karas, founder of Karas Correctional Health and a doctor in the area, told Channel 5, the local CBS affiliate, in an interview Wednesday — though the FDA has stressed that the drug has not been approved to fight COVID.

The doctor said he’s been using the deworming drug, Ivermectin, as a COVID-19 treatment in the jail and in his public-facing medical practice since October, and as a preventative measure since January. He cited the influence of the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance, a group that’s pushed false claims about the drug’s efficacy.

And then I saw something about the usual Fox News people talking up ivermectin. I would so love for them to volunteer in another study of it.

I think ( I am not a doctor) that there is a time and place for strong anti inflammatories! ( not that one)

The evidence from any reputable place is “get a freaking vaccine”, and mask up.

Yes, but Arkansas Worming doesn’t work the way Mississippi Worming does.

Hah. Started feeling less shit the week after I posted actually. Got Covid test to make sure i wasn't actually ill and it was negative. I have my second jab on Sunday (Should have been 2 weeks ago but I couldn't make the appointment) so I shall provide an update after that.

Glad to hear it. Unlike BionTech/Pfizer with Moderna the first jab is supposedly the nasty one. As stated above, based on my experience I can't confirm that, but that's what I've been told. So the second round will hopefully be smooth sailing for you.

I also wonder, whether @Theda Baratheon had her sense of taste returned and thus (as some sorta cruel punishment by the gods) can now fully enjoy the all the flavours of the British cuisine - both salt and vinegar - again.

To add some more anecdata to this, Mrs. PotN and I had the Moderna vaccine.  The first shot only resulted in pretty sore arms at the injection site for about five days (so, not too bad at all).  The second shot resulted in about one day of flu-like symptoms for each of us and it was smooth sailing after that:dunno:
