Lord Patrek
No word yet on the Jets' GM. If Quenneville is out, there's no way he survives this. Torts in Florida might kill that locker room, though.

Lord Patrek
Cheveldayoff's meeting with Bettman moved to Friday: https://www.tsn.ca/kevin-cheveldayoff-chicago-blackhawks-winnipeg-jets-gary-bettman-1.1713014 It appears that Jets' ownership wanted it moved from next Monday to Friday so as to not drag this through the weekend. This is just a formality. The man is done. Edited October 29, 2021 by Lord Patrek
Lord Patrek
The NHLPA didn't help Beach when he reached out to them, so it will be interesting to see if Fehr or someone else might have to step down. . .

I'd assume this is similar to what the NFL is facing. These are not isolated instances, hence why the NFL is going to fight to the death to not have the emails be seen. Lord Patrek
Well, I have a feeling that opening this can of worms is only the beginning. Same thing happened last year regarding violence done on young player making the league.
Lord Patrek
Wow! Cheveldayoff gets NOTHING! As the GM's assistant, it was deemed that he had no authority to change the outcome of what happened? WTF? Quenneville had no authority whatsoever and he got the axe! Man, I don't know what to think. . .
Mr. Chatywin et al.
Again, it's likely that the combination of lying about knowing about it and demonstrating at the time that he didn't care at all about one of his players being sexually assaulted that did him in. Lord Patrek
I agree with you. But everyone in that front office who still works in the NHL should be fired. How Cheveldayoff managed to dodge the bullet, I have no idea. If Bowman goes, it stands to reason that his assistant should suffer the same fate. Inkdaub
I suspect the Kraken will win every game from now on.
Lord Patrek
The Habs are now 2-8. I didn't expect another cup run, but certainly not this. . .

Long term injury, and dispute between him and Sabres how to treat it. Remains to be seen, whether and hwo much he will play before the start of the play-offs. Lord Patrek
True. But even if Eichel returns at 50% of what he used to be, it's still a steal for Vegas. If it's true about the package Calgary offered yesterday, I'm not sure why Buffalo decided on the Vegas offer.

Vegas is reportedly ok with Eichel getting the experimental surgery he wants, so I guess we won’t be seeing him at the Olympics. The recovery time sounds like about 4 months. Lord Patrek
I didn't believe it, either. But the Buffalo press claimed it was true and the Flames could have denied the whole thing and did not. Tkachuck is a soon-to-be franchise player while we don't yet know if Eichel will ever return to 100%. Including Tkachuck in the deal would have been crazy! Yeah, but is 50% Eichel worth 100% of a 10m p.a. contract/cap hit?
Lord Patrek
Nope, so I figure Vegas are confident that he'll be back the way he was. I hope so for them because he's under contract at 10M per season till 2025-2026.
Lord Patrek
It hurts my soul when I realize that the chess thread attracts more people than the NHL one. I know I'm Canadian, but still. . .

I know I'm Canadian, but still. . . How do you think those of us in the midwest feel? Almost no one cares about hockey where I live. Personally, all my excitement and enthusiasm for this season was deflated when Jack Hughes got injured (I’m a Devils fan). Their scoring is absolutely anemic without him. His transition game and zone entries really drive so much of their offense. And if that wasn’t bad enough, Dougie Hamilton also went down. I know they’re 5-3-2, but it’s still been a disappointing start. Right now watching young Dawson Mercer is about the only highlight.
