The North, Dorne, and the Vale are each big enough and geographically isolated enough that any one or all of them could have been independent by now. The fact that Dany rides across more than half of the entire continent (at least the known part of it) in just over half of Thrones is especially ridiculous, considering that they were going at a very slow pace because they had an entire moving society with them.
