Football: Forever blowing bubbles...or more?

Following 4 straight defeats, the last to Bolivia by 3-0, Uruguay fired Oscar Tabarez after more than 15 years in charge (he was already Uruguay's coach when Low took over Germany to give you an idea).  It was pretty clear he had taken Uruguay as far as he could, the team couldn't score anymore. Should have left after the 2018 WC.

In other news.

Markus Anfang, manager at Werder Bremen is under investigation. The health department of the city of Bremen suspects him of using a fake vaccination certificate and has reported this case to the DA office.

Anfang has denied the allegation. it'd be huge if it turned out to be true.

Update: Anfang and his assistant, Junge, have both resigned from their posts. Damn that escalated quickly. From the news breaking Friday (including public denial and backing from the club), to the resignation today. Gonna be interesting to see how Werder does tonight against Schalke. To think that werder fought tooth and nail to get Anfang out of his contract at Darmstadt at the start of the season, to this clusterfuck ending in less than half a year, that is kinda impressive.

Chelsea back on form. They could have easily scored a few more goals if not for some offsides calls, but 3-0 is still a nice line. Elite defense combined with a very good attacking side, and our best pure scorer is still injured.

Ah, c'mon now. Firing Solskjaer before the Chelsea game would kinda distorrt the competition, wouldn't it?

You have to give all the title challengers an equal chance to improve on their goal differrence. :leaving:

Yeah this is a collapse. Solskjaer needs to be fired, preferably at half time. It's like the players have never met each other before.

Far too late.

Solskjaer should've been sacked after the Liverpool embarrassment.

Now we'll end up sacking him AFTER a top tier manager is no longer available so we'll end up paying Leicester a world record fee for Rodgers or worse appoint Carrick as caretaker.

The club is either run by incompetent clowns or Liverpool supporters.

I thought Zidane was the preferred option,

I don't think Zidane is particularly interested in the job, at least that's what all the reports were saying. Maybe if they throw enough money at him he might change his mind but hiring a manager who doesn't really want to be here and doesn't speak any english either doesn't bode well.

or poaching Poch from PSG.

Nobody poaches anything from the petrostate propaganda clubs. This is a club that rejected €200m for a player in the last year of his contract and with no intention of renewing. The only chance of getting Poch is if PSG wants to get rid of him anyway.

Apparently United's board have called an emergency meeting so there is a good chance that Solskjaer is sacked. Too late imo. Conte who actually wanted the job and is a top tier manager to boot was snubbed because he's not a corporate yes man so now the clowns are going to be scrambling in desperation.

A bit of a weird game at Anfield. I thought Arsenal looked pretty good in the first half but once they went behind they didn't really look like they knew what to do and the second half was a bit of a procession.

Surely that's the end for Solskjaer but delaying making the decision to pull the trigger seems to have cost United considering Conte was obviously available. Pretty poor performance from their board to be honest.
