If Daenerys had married Quentyn and won Dorne's support what would Aegon do?

  1. First of all, let's not downplay the mercenary companies. No one in Westeros is really able to buy them away from Dany except for maybe the Lannisters and the Tyrells. The Tyrells seem to be rich in food instead of gold and the Lannisters would only be able to buy them off if they would tap into their own funds...and that's not nothing. Sellswords aren't going to be wooed by an "I owe you" promissory note and the Iron Throne is broke. And Cersei is not competent or subtle (or even humble) enough to pull off such a transaction right underneath everyone's noses.
  2. Dany technically had 10,000 immaculates. 8,000 who are fully-trained and 2,000 who are still training and bound to graduate.
  3. Dany only had 2 mercenary companies not 3. The Mother's Men, the Shavepates, the Free Brothers and the Stalwart Shields are not mercenaries. They are armies of freedmen and native people from Meereen who are loyal to her and only her.
  4. At this present time and by the end of A Storm of Swords, Aegon had only one mercenary company, -1 immaculates and zero dragons. AKA much less than what Dany had. Yet Aegon and his council still mount an invasion and believe that Westeros is ripe for the taking. They all believe that he has a good chance.

1. I don't think the Lannisters or any other house would buy one of Dany's mercenary companie, they would fight with they own soldiers. If Daenerys had gone to Westeros by the end of ASOS Cersei wouldn't have time enough to cause to much damage like over turning Maegor's law, make the Faith Militant born again and put the Lannisters and Tyrells in the situation they are now.

2. I omitted the not graduated imaculates 'cause that aren't ready and aren't oficial imaculates, but yeah they still could fight.

3. My bad. I really had three companies in my mind, sorry.

4. By the end of ASOS Aegon still expected Daenerys help, and by the middle of ADWD too. The things changes. The situation is pretty bad for the Lannisters now. Cersei had time enough to do a lot dumb shit and Aegon's side hopes Dorne support. Without a great house's support and without the Lannisters and Tyrells full of problems with the Faith and the Ironborns, Aegon's campaign would be a mistake. His chances of winning are more about his enemies bad situation than his army streng.

Dany and Arriane will have a lot of friction as in-laws. Arriane is not going to be happy when she has to kneel to Quentin.  The girls who could be friends under the right circumstances are Dany, Margaery, Brienne, Sansa, and Gillie. Dany has had a lot of experience with people of all kinds.

Aegon is a better fit for Dorne. The Reach and the Tyrells are best for Daenerys.

Yeah I also think that Dany would be best friends with Sansa, Arya and Brienne

Well, he's not filling out a tuxedo lol, but if his mission was to form an alliance with Dany then he succeeded

the problem is he got himself killed... therefore , there will be no alliance between Dorne and Dany. you could argue that his actions will probably end up benefiting Dany in Mereen. he released the power of dragons which will be crucial in presenting Dany as an undefeatable dragonlord and he did win tattered prince though in the price of another war.. still I'd say what's one more free city to burn! ... so if you think about it , whatever Quent did can be successful for Dany, but not for Dorne that wanted a dornish consort and the chance of half dronish councilors and courtiers.

Like I said, a marriage alliance between Daenerys and Quentyn would be disastrous. The Martells want revenge. Doran wants a grandchild on the IT. Aegon and his supporters would feel threatened if that marriage were to produce an heir.

The best plan is to wait. Wait until the Others make their presence felt and the bellies of the Dornish start complaining of hunger. Wait until Westeros begs for help.

Actually there is a chance that Dornish can grow food during winters. In fact it is possible that Dorne is more fertile during winters than summers.

Naturally assuming that temperature in Dorne stays high enough for them to do that. It is also possible that during winters some areas of Dorne have more raining and rivers of Dorne will do same thing that flooding Nile did in Egypt annually=> produce a lot of fertile mud => large areas that are too dry and lack necessary fertility for growing anything during summers suddenly become very fertile during winters. If those things happen in Dorne during winters then value of Dorne as an ally will rise. Specially if for some reason usual breadbaskets of Westeros (Reach, Riverlands and Vale) cannot feed Westeros anymore.

They miss out on the consort, true. But they still will be the first ones to come in contact with Danys govt in Pentos, so that's something of an alliance.

yes but that prospective consort was prince of Dorne's son and his spare heir. as logical as Dorane might be , he is still human. if you count in the emotion factor , there can never be an alliance between Dorne and Dany ........not as long as Dorne has another option.

Cry and pout.  What else could he do?   He could try and work a marriage alliance of his own with another daughter of a great house.  Marge or a Hightower.  Another scenario would split House Martell.  One half goes with Daenerys and Qentyn and the other with Aegon and Arrianne.  The SS are the hotheaded ones and will go with Arrianne.

Dany didn't kill him, she wasn't even in Merreen when he died.

doesn't matter.

honestly , imagine your son's bones (who you hoped to see in wedding tux gifted with three dragons and a vengeance scheme) reaches you with a simple letter explaining that " the bride to be did turn him down in favor of some slaver husband and a sellsowrd paramour and her dragon did burn him.. but she didn't have to do anything with it what so ever.. in fact funny story, another one of her dragons just took her away and we don't know where she is!".. would you think slightly rationally in such scenario ? would you even believe it? would you remotely consider keeping an alliance with said bride to be?

EVEN IF there was no option of possible back-from-the-death nephew for Doran , I have a hard time seeing him supporting Dany after Quent's death. if anything, he would have let his Lannister-family-killing enemies and his Targaryen-family-killing enemies destroy each other and then when winter came and his enemies where starving he'd announce Dorne's independence!

It won't be a simple letter.  If all goes to plan then the two dornish knights that accompanied Quentyn will be the ones to tell Doran that Quentyn died on his own accord, and that he has to invade Pentos on behalf of Dany.

That's believable, they're his sons friends and knights at that.

Doran shouldn't wild out. He thought his brothers scheme stupid and when he died, because Oberyn tweaked the scheme, he shrugged it off as an inevitability, I expect him to shrug this death off too, as they're kinda similar
