I see that talks between United and Newcastle have once again broken down. Man United are just being ridiculous now. We are not even using Lingard, he's made it clear that he wants to leave and Newcastle have offered a generous loan fee + paying full wages but we seem intent on pissing players off. Van de Beek is another player who the club have managed to royally piss off - a regular in the Dutch national team who has since been dropped because United refuse to give him any game time to speak of while simultaneously rejecting all of his requests for a loan move. Dean Henderson has been begging for a loan (Ajax were interested) but we've repeatedly ignored his pleas. The only thing we've succeeded in doing with Henderson is wasting two years of his career and wrecking any chance he had of making England's WC squad. Martial had to force a move. No wonder there is such toxicity at the club. Fantastic management once again by the board of ass-clowns.

It's quite possible they don't want to give a lending hand to a side that is threatening to unbalance the league any more than it is. They are a potential rival long term that could unseat Utd as a major force, one they can never compete with. I've heard many prem clubs didn't want to negotiate with Newcastle or give them players. They only got Wood because of his release clause.

Oh, in other news.

The FIFA World Cup is not merely the money grab you and I so cynically make it out to be. No, it's humanitarian mission, which we all should support to stop the drowning in the mediterranean.

From all the outrageous crazy to morally bankrupt things being said and done in football Infantino managing to still be able to top it. That is quite an achievement.

This just sums them up doesn't it. Money grabbing schemers pretending they are out there trying to save the world.. if only they had more money!

That would be a pretty stupid reason. Lingard's contract is up at the end of the season, he's rejected extension offers and has asked to leave. There's really no point hanging onto a player we aren't even using and who's leaving for free at the end of the season anyway.

The people running United appear to be the very definition of stupid, no?

Greedy? Yes. Stupid? I dunno, they seem to be achieving their aim, which is to make money.

Mike Ashley was a prat but can anyone deny he was achieving his aim of making lots of money off the suffering of Newcastle fans?

Looks like Mane might have picked up a concussion at AFCON.

Collision with the goalkeeper outside the box. Keeper couldn't continue and received a (harsh) red card on top. Mane stayed on, score a nice for Senegal to take lead and then signalled that he really needs to be taken off.  He really should've been taken off after collission not kept on the pitch.

That was pretty sickening mistreatment/exploitation of Mane.  He was knocked unconscious but played on for another ten minutes without a concussion check.  He looked like he was struggling to even walk after he scored the goal for them.

So I'm watching Ecuador vs Brazil- 25 minutes in and both goalkeepers got straight reds (though Alisson's was excessively harsh), plus Emerson Royal got two yellows in 20 minutes. Crazy stuff. Edit: After VAR check, Alisson's was changed to an yellow- that took more than 5 minutes. Brazil leads with a Casemiro goal.

And sorta earth shattering news in the Bundesliga.

Max Eberl (Sporting Director) has asked for the termination of his contract at Gladbach. He's held that post since October 2008, and he is widely considered to be the mastermind behind their resurgance during that time.

Yes, Gladbach are on a slide for 18 months now, and he is atm getting quite a bit of stick, but still that's super surprising. The club president has reportedly rejected his request, so they'll hope he stays on. Rumors have linked him to the vacancy at Leipzig. A few years ago, he was also linked with the Bayern post, that ultimately went to Salihamidzic. Other speculation circle around unspecified health reasons. If Gladbach insist on letting his contract run, a new employer would've to buy him out.

Arsenal sell Callum Chambers, making him the... fifth I think? player they've either sold or released during a transfer window in which they've repeatedly asked to postpone games because of lack of playing staff.

Behave. We asked to postpone one game.

And we didn't sell him. We just gave him away.

But yeah, some weird decisions are being taken at the moment.

It does look like Luis Diaz is definitely on the cards for Liverpool although there's still time for a Fekir style change of heart.

You'd think that pretty much confirms one of Salah or Mane is getting sold this summer. Probably Mane since Liverpool are in contract negotiations with Salah and Diaz plays on the left but if those negotiations don't go well it might end up being Salah.

So Liverpool are getting a perfect Mane replacement. Given Klopp's record of taking players to the next level, Diaz is going to be a beast. How annoying! Hopefully both Klopp and Guardiola will be leaving the PL over the next couple of years.

Looks like Van de Beek is finally going to be getting his loan move. Simon Stone reporting that United will let him leave (Valencia and Palace are the clubs interested).
