Who cares about what she does? That isn't the issue. She is just Beren's sidekick. She doesn't want the Silmaril for herself nor does she agree with the ridiculous quest. Like a good little woman she tries to dissuade her man from the silly quest but gives in to his desires and helps him to get what he wants which seems to be her duty as his wife-to-be. All she does she does either to please Beren or to keep him alive.

She is very much like her mother in this regard. Melian is equally much more powerful than Thingol ... but he is still her king and master. She advises and helps him but he calls the shots.

Obviously because Aredhel's defiance has to do with her own desires ... whereas Lúthien is basically just lovesick pawn, basically. Beren calling her 'Tinúviel' apparently literally put a spell on her. Lúthien defies her father because she is in love whereas Aredhel has concrete problems with her brother's policies.

They no longer got along later in their marriage. Not sure how that has much to do with Nerdanel's character.

That is no excuse for not coming up with a good story for Galadriel in context of the stories. Tolkien could have come up with a new story for her or he could have put her as a crucial character into some of the other stories. He just never bothered with any of that.

His sidekick? Good grief. She completely upstages him again and again. The Quest is his, because he's taken it on, but it also becomes hers... because she decides to help her beloved, even if it goes against her father's wishes. The notion that she has no agency simply because she's in love with the guy is absurd.

Aredhel's concrete problems with her brother's policies really amount to "I want to go hunting with my Bad Boy cousins." Even the notion of returning to Gondolin wasn't actually her idea - it was Maeglin's. Not sure how that makes her more active than Luthien.

As for Nerdanel, we know what Feanor was like, and we know that he actually listened to her (for a while), and cooled his temper tantrums. The estranged relationship is highly unusual in Tolkien Elves (in Valinor, no less), and suggests she was reasonable but not a doormat. Then she straight-out refused to join Feanor's little Quest, which is more than can be said for the vast majority of the Noldor, and all the more impressive considering she was his wife. The only comparable abandonment would be Huan disowning Celegorm.

It is made very explicit after the whole Sauron intermezzo that she, Lúthien, doesn't care about the Silmaril or marriage - she is content to live with a healthy Beren somewhere in the wild. But he insists that he has to keep his stupid word and hand the silly stone to her dad. And as a good little woman Lúthien submits to the madness of her man - very much like Melian does, too.

Aredhel had desires of her own in the beginning - of course, rape and forced marriage turned her into a good little housewife, so at that point she needs her son to give her agency.

What? Most of the Noldor wives didn't accompany their husbands to Middle-earth, disrupting their marriages rather permanently.

Nerdanel is just the great love of a man larger than life who is never going to be focus exclusively or mainly on family life. He fathered his seven sons, and then he moved on. As Feanor's great love she had some influence over him ... but the implication is that he dumped her not the other way around. The estrangement between the two is clearly Feanor's fault.

New juicy leaks:

Spoiler

"Galadriel and Halbrand are brought before the court of Miriel and Pharazon by Elendil to the suprise of everybody. Still in rags from when they were rescued from the shipwreck. Tense introduction follows, verbal stand-offs between Galadriel, Miriel and Pharazon where Galadriel proclaims her lineage. It's Halbrand who tries to act as the concillatory one and keeps Galadriel's rage in check.

They're both then marched off to their quaters or jail (unconfirmed) by guards, during which time Halbrand secretly gets a dagger from Elendil. This is when Galadriel fights off guards, not when she arrives in Numenor

In the trailer the Numenoreans are saving Galadriel and Halbrand from the shipwreck. During their voyage to Numenor, Elendil, Halbrand and Galadriel become closer.

Exclusive Unconfirmed Rumour [...]: Halbrand potentially either causes the shipwreck or saves Galadriel only, leaving everyone else on the ship to die."

Go home show, you're drunk.
