Gronzag
I have no hope of it being any good as a movie, but I'm strangely excited to see Rapture again.
Werthead
What is it with studios making movies 15 years after the game was A Thing? WarCraft, Assassin's Creed, now BioShock. Making a movie whilst the game is more current would seem to be a good idea. Even the Last of Us show is coming out 10 years after the game. Deadlines? What Deadlines?
Nostalgia. People long for a simpler time; like the days of the Bush administration. Maybe the stuff just needs to percolate in the pop culture subconscious for a while. Since the capeshit stuff is largely sewn up and we've had a few video game adaptations that were good and/or successful, maybe Hollywood will be quicker on the draw in the future. We'll see how Halo does.

The Super Bowl commercials were goddamn depressing. The theme seemed to be, "let's recycle pop culture icons from the '90's". Further proof that these clowns are creatively tapped out. I wonder how much shit Larry David is going to take for hawking electronic gambling assets. Guaranteed they were thinking, "if any of these commercials hits big we're doing a franchise sequel/reboot/soft-rebbot." I expect a Cable guy and/or Austin Powers film announcement is imminent. And Scott Evil can fuck off.
