Veltigar
I finished The Godfather II a couple of days ago. I have never been the biggest fan of the franchise, but for some reason I wanted to rewatch it for the first time in many years. I'm happy I did so. It is better than I can imagine. The acting in this film is so understated. It's very powerful. I also really liked the wardrobe on display. There is this scene in Nevada, where Al Pacino shuts the door on his wife and he looks like the epitome of style in that scene. Michael has a real Lucifer thing going for him. Curious to see how it measures up to the original.

I think seeing Master Chief's dong will definitely add a level of nuance and girth to his character that we haven't seen in the games before. dbunting
I don't know why but for some reason I started watching the new Vikings series on Netflix. Was looking for either Station 11 or Yellowjackets and somehow clicked on this. It definitely re uses some sets from Vikings. They reference characters from the show. Not one person seems believable as a Viking to me, even though I don't actually know what an actual Viking would be like if that makes sense. I'm halfway through and will finish it but it's not any better than Vikings was in the end.

In this adaptation, his Mjölnir armor has a specially designed codpiece that specifically allows his block and tackle to sway in the breeze. 'Scares the shit out of the Covenant. ETA: So I use the google to find the correct spelling of "Mjölnir" and I think, "While I'm here..." I'll check out the image search because I like pretty pictures. That's when I found this. I mean, can we all just kick back and watch the vortex suck it all down now? I get the whole "merchandising opportunities" thing but seriously? Seriously?!? What kind of soulless, cruel, machine-like multi-national corporation do you have to be to come up with something like that? I got to go have a think. Ran
Pretty sure the TV-MA rating for Halo will be due to stuff like being people gorily cut in half by beam weapons and so on. I've now watched Spielberg's West Side Story. I've never seen the 1961 film, nor any stage production of this famous Sondheim musical, but I've heard some of the songs here and there in the past. In any case, I thought it was pretty good, and I have to revise my opinion of Ansel Elgort a bit as I thought he was excellent as Tony (reviews suggest that most reviewers agree that he was, at least, superior to the 1961 Tony). I found all the performers pretty charming, actually, but in the last third of the film Valentina (played by Rita Moreno, who WSS fans know as Anita) really got the emotions going in a couple of scenes she's in before the big denoument. Ariana DeBose, this film's Anita, was also excellent (and is nominated for an Oscar.) And Rachel Zegler as Anita, David Alvarez as Bernardo, etc., etc. Well-cast film. Deadlines? What Deadlines?
Minx on HBO. Interesting period piece. Very well done. Very, very funny. Alooooooot of cock. Quantity and variety. More cock than I've ever seen on the Tee Vee. And that's just the first episode. And it takes place in the 1970's, so no manscaping.
Deadlines? What Deadlines?
Minx Episode 2: This one was somewhat less cock heavy than episode 1. Plenty of cock surrogates though. Imagine Don Draper failing at an ad campaign for sex toys and Peggy Olsen comes along and crushes it he first time out... after some "inspiration". Also men are sexist pigs, except for the pornographers. Lennon Parham as Shelly is hilarious. She's a bit like Yoda only in an uncomfortably frank way. DireWolfSpirit
Rewatched the Russian Doll, Natscha Lyonne is a natural and joy to see deliver her role. I'm happy to see were getting a 2nd season around April 20th. Also did a rare viewing of a romcom, Midnight in Paris. Found out after its a Woody Allen story. Nontheless it was pretty good, Owen Wilson was at his best back then and W.A. aside, I have to admit it was really refreshing. Eta: Also watched Margin Call. Great cast with Stanley Tucci, Jeremy Irons, Demi Moore and another fallen figure the infamous Spacey. If you liked movies like The Big Short or Wall Street, this should be up your alley. Luzifer's right hand
I'm watching Babylon 5. I have only watched the German dub back when it was on TV here. I found the SD version close to unwatchable on my TV(77" OLED) to be honest but the "remastered" version Amazon has is OK. The CGI still looks really old but not as bad as the SD and at least the other scenes are in HD and the makeup holds up really well. Too bad it is not like the TNG remaster which looks really nice. RhaenysBee
After a meh first episode, The Gilded Age has grown into a solid, entertaining and superbly acted show, a worthy descendant of Downton Abbey. Mr and Mrs Russel must be the strongest television power couple in at least five years. I utterly adore that duo, both as characters and actors. Ran
Oh yes. Apple fans were and are very evangelical and there was an almost religious fervor around releases like the first iPhone. Just finished watching Winter on Fire, the Netflix documentary about the Euromaidan protests that ultimatelyforced pro-Russian President Yanukoyvch to flee to Russia following his having betrayed, at the last minute, his promise to sign a free trade agreement and association with the EU. Really remarkable, and moving, show of courage by those who went out there day after day, even after the government forces turned increasingly violent and, ultimately, deadly in trying to repress them. The footage of "Berkut" snipers casually picking off people cowering in fear behind makeshift cover with sniper rifles was absolutely horrifying. Well worth watching for those wanting to learn something more about what's going on in Ukraine.

DireWolfSpirit
Well subject manner wise was where the comparison is meant, at least for the Big Short. Pretty sure that's supposed to represent the months around the fall of Lehman Bros. Not sure why I'm drawn to "street crash" flix currently, other than the Fed is beginning rate hikes so a new one maybe on the horizon if were unlucky.
