Judge rejects Trump's affidavit saying he doesn't have documents sought by New York's attorney general

(CNN)Former President Donald Trump said in a sworn affidavit that he doesn't have any documents sought by the New York attorney general in its investigation of the Trump Organization's finances.

The one-page signed affidavit filed with the court Friday was Trump's unsuccessful attempt to end the civil contempt and daily fine of $10,000 per day imposed on him earlier this week by New York state Judge Arthur Engoron.

After a brief telephonic hearing Friday morning, the judge denied Trump's motion to purge the contempt.

"Mr. Trump's personal affidavit is completely devoid of any useful detail. Notably, it fails to state where he kept his files, how his files were stored in the regular course of business, who had access to such files, what, if any, the retention policy was for such files, and, importantly, where he believes such files are currently located," he wrote. The judge also found the sworn statement from Trump's attorney unsatisfactory.

must've missed it.

I like the piece too.  It did a good job of teasing out two different ideologies among the authoritatians.  Though clearly aligned here in the US they are not necessarily the same, and can be / will be / even maybe are, in conflict. Like Dixie's determination to expand slavery capitalism, while the northern immigrants, industrialists and banking capitalism came to the point where they decided the two systems could not co-exist.  Probably too subtle for a lot of fellow travelers?

You jest surely.  None of them are even indicted, not even paying fines, certainly not put on trial, and not sentenced to prison.  NONE OF THEM.  They are all still doing everything they've been doing -- and saying ever more more more extremist incitement to insurrection and murder every day.  Where in the world do you live that you know this not?  Trump was put to impeachment TWICE, and cleared both times for pete's sake!  So here in NY they say he's fined $10,000 a day for refusing to turn over supoened dox, and he's not doing.  Nobody expects to do anything about it, much less collect $10,000 a day.  Nobody expects he will be tried, be sentenced and go to prison.  As officials asked yesterday said, "Chances are very very very slim. It's highly unlikely."

It may be a team, but ideologies have teams -- ask the nazis.  Their ideology is to destroy democracy.  They tell you this, fer pete's sake.  Their ideology is racist, anti-woman, anti-public good, and destruction of everything because they are going to space.  This is why we get nowhere as Dems or anything else, because people keep wanting not to believe this, while it goes on right in YOUR faces.

Oh but don't worry, Merrick Garland has assured everybody he's going to go after Hunter Biden with the full effort and resources of his office.

See he doesn't have time to get his fingers dirty looking into enforcing the laws on the untouchable dirtbag that ran a 4 year crime ring out of the White House or go after anyone else that worked in Trump's administration.

It would just be too unseemly and beneath this AG to do his stinking job or assist any other prosecutors in any way. Way too beneath his station you see.:angry2:

Guy needs to be unceremoniously dumped, fired and chain dragged out of the AG office. Head on a pike.

So JD Vance has gone full insane:

I'm very amused by the logic of this claim.  Apparently this means that fentanyl users/addicts are exclusively either MAGA voters or family members of MAGA voters.  Which means the next step, based on conservative logic, is to criminalize such usage, throw them all in jail, and impose discriminatory mandatory minimum sentences.

I'm years too late, but I just now found out that this fight scene is a thing:

The button scene had me dying in laughter, but they kind of lost me at the end. Trump would never try to save Peter.

Nope, you are forgetting Candace Owens. With her, Ben Carson and Dennis Rodman, that should cover it. Don't even try to argue that Dr. Giggles doesn't get high on his own supply.

Dennis Rodman doesn't get addicted to drugs, drugs get addicted to Dennis Rodman.

Backhanded acknowledgment of the opioid crisis? Purportedly, it is rampant among older white folks - the demographic that includes the Trump base.

That study is 30 years old

Except -- this, as you quoted: The number one killer of Americans aged 18 to 45 is now fentanyl overdoses, with nearly 79,000 people in the age range dying to them between 2020 and 2021, according to newly released data. Dec 17, 2021  That's a long way from being 30 years old.

So is this:
