Yeah ever since the right dreamed up these "heartbeat bills" about a decade ago they've been effective abortion bans and should be referred to as such.

There is a significant way which Our Gilead will differ from Atwood's Handmaids. In the contempo way of the post video game/comix/superhero/porn culture, all the nubile, fertile women will be forced to be all or mostly naked most of the time and wear stilettos. We White Men in the US may be happy with sharia law (what happened to the terror of sharia taking over the USA?) but we manly snowflake babymans will not have birkas! (except, maybe, in Utah).*

In the meantime people who are shocked that Alito would reach to a treatise on witchcraft back in the 17th C for standing of his opinion, and do this in the 21st C -- These evangelicals and other xtian theocratic advocates and their allies do believe in witchcraft and witches. They did in the 20th C, and there are more of Them and They believe it even more completely in the 21st C. Plus They export these beliefs to other nations and continents as part of Their missionary missions.

* As for incels chortling that now they are gonna be showin' those stuck up bitches and fucking them all the time -- They are vastly mistaken.  There are going to be even fewer women who are available, incels aren't going to be in the line for them.

These clowns, absolutely ignorant of any of the matters that go into reproduction, contraception and health care for women, are debating each other. These shit-for-brains believe they have the right to determine every woman's reproductive future -- and yours too, you guys.

I'm starting to wonder how these guys are paying for their fuel.  I have some really pissed off trucker and contractor types on my FB. One posted a shot of the pump after he filled his rig up - $980 - enough, he said for one day. (I believe that was for a Cat or Front End Loader, not a semi, but still...these 'Freedom Trucker' characters have got to be burning through diesel like there's no tomorrow.

Some religions don’t approve of social equality. It is sort of like Handmaids, the fertile. Keep women poor and pregnant. Take over rights to have a bank account, like the good old days.

Jesus teaches love and understanding. Many of his followers have turned that into pure white hot rage and violence. Funny how that works...

Allegedly a white supremacist -- a follower of the frozen fish heir, Tucker Carlson.

No allegedly needed, he's a full blown fascist and racist white nationalist. But it's too soon to talk about it, like it's too soon to mention this:

"Donations" from their sponsors and supporters. Otherwise, no they couldn't do this.  Even so, where a lot of that donated money seems to have gone, is as much a mystery as to where so much, even all, of the trumpywumpy donations go, according to those who keep track of these matters and / or investigate them.

Not for the first time one wonders why there aren't thousands and thousands protesting outside faux noose every day, demanding TC be canceled.

Free speech ... ? :P

But there's a father involved as well and the father is a rapist. Ricketts is saying he'll work to insure these rapists have a right to be fathers. That's important to him.

Nebraska GOP governor says he will call a special session to pass total abortion ban if Roe is overturned

Washington (CNN)Republican Gov. Pete Ricketts of Nebraska said Sunday that he will call a special session of his state's legislature to pass a total ban on abortion if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade this term.

"Nebraska is a pro-life state. I believe life begins at conception," Ricketts told CNN's Dana Bash on "State of the Union." "If Roe v. Wade, which is a horrible constitutional decision, gets overturned by the Supreme Court, which we're hopeful of, here in Nebraska, we're going to take further steps to protect those unborn babies."

"Including in the case of rape or incest?" Bash asked. To which the governor replied: "They're still babies, too. Yes."
Ricketts said that in case Roe falls, "I will work with our speaker of the legislature to work on a special session and do more to protect preborn babies. We'll have to wait and see what that decision is before we can take further steps, but that would certainly be my intention."

We continue our nation's grand, founding heritage of white males making war on, slaughtering, massacring, genociding  people who aren't white males.

Have definitely noticed an increase in neo-nazi symbols and shit locally.  A friend of mine found and removed a couple of Nazi black suns off a gas pump last week. Here's a Twitter thread from last year about neonazis pushing this symbol into right-wing schwag.

And the always quality Talia Lavin in Rolling stone:

Quote

Such was the case on Saturday, when a teenaged white supremacist named Payton Gendron opened fire in a supermarket in a Black neighborhood in Buffalo, New York, killing ten people, while livestreaming the carnage on the live-video site Twitch. Prior to the shooting, he had posted a 180-page manifesto in which he laid out his rationale clearly: He was an adherent of what is called Great Replacement Theory, the idea that white people, in the United States and white-majority countries around the world, are being systematically, deliberately outbred and “replaced” by immigrants and ethnic minorities, in a deliberate attempt to rid the world of whiteness. It’s a conspiracy theory that has inspired terror attacks in New Zealand and Pittsburgh, San Diego, and El Paso – an ideology that marries demographic panic with the idea of a cunning, nefarious plot. Reading through the document, what struck me hardest, however, was how very close the killer’s ideas were to the American mainstream – the white-hot core of American politics.

He won reelection in 2020 by about twenty points.

Are repubilcan voters really that dumb?  McConnell is corrupt as fuck and works for the small club of elected folks who make themselves richer

Cant recall who he ran against, but Mconnell is an enemy of people that want less government.  He's on the take.  A government with fair elections , free discourse, and actual choices wouldn't keep returning him. Probably enough big money interests are keeping him in his position.  Who is his plurality though?

I can't even call him a squish, that would be an insult to invertabrates.

Can't stand that chinless MF.

There are plenty of people who identify as Republicans for whom "wanting less government" is not a main issue. You seem to be guilty of thinking that all Republican voters have the same motives for voting Republican that you would.

It's not coincidental or 'adjacent' that overt hostility and violence committed against women has been escalating over these last years.  White women are in the way of of  Us not being replaced, because they aren't dying with one pregnancy after another, so we must, um, well, kill them.  Ya, that rational.

The Baltimore Sun is running an op-ed by 2 psychiatrist arguing the Buffalo mass murderer should be given a state execution.

Ya, please, for tucker carlson, rupert murdoch, laura ingraham, etc.

There are so many aspects that make this particular shooting particularly awful and heartbreaking -- which isn't to say all of them aren't.

It's just, well this happened at the only full service supermarket in this large area, which for decades has been a food desert.  For years the community actively strived to get a supermarket like Toppers there -- and they finally succeeded.

I don't know about the rest of the country, but here in this state, increasingly food emporiums are becoming a chosen target for these white supremacist terrorists -- just like black churches and synagogues, and LGBQ+ dance clubs.
