They have a bunch of stuff in development but northing formally greenlit. I bought Season 1 on Blu-Ray (ha) years ago but never got round to watching it, and then everyone and their uncle seemed to despise Season 2 onwards. Is it worth watching? I wasn't a huge fan of the original movie either. It's worth watching, IMO. I actually started with Season 3 and 4 and I found them brilliant and also super cool as far as cyberpunky near future stuff. It's also beautiful to watch and has great music. It didn't capture the mindfuck of the first season, but I also think that that wasn't sustainable; you can't have the mystery of the season be that way every season. karaddin
Yeah, while it made for a strong first season I think the mind fuck angle hurt the show in terms of audience expectations, and the impact on the show runners in response to the audience figuring it out. Still worth watching.

RumHam
This is embarrassing but I learned to play most of the opening theme on piano. I got to play it twice around other people but no one ever asked "is that the Westworld theme?" so I never got to say "It didn't sound like anything to me." That's awesome, shouldn't be embarrassed at all. Anyway, not surprising at all but still disappointing that it finally happened. Like the Dems losing the House on Tuesday. To reiterate, I thought season 4 was outstanding and very much worthy of letting Joy and Nolan finish it up. Still, it's not as frustrating as my all-time sadness of cancellation - Sarah Connor Chronicles. I still on occasion imagine what season 3 would be like. Here it's just more sad how things were left for Maeve and Bernard. They deserved so much better - meaning at least better death scenes. Fragile Bird
I just turned on my cell phone and a story popped up saying the cast is being paid for Season 5. I guess the production team was ready to roll.
DMC
This made me chuckle (Kilter Films is Joy and Nolan): Quote And here’s Kilter Films’ statement: “Making Westworld has been one of the highlights of our careers. We are deeply grateful to our extraordinary cast and crew for creating these indelible characters and brilliant worlds. We’ve been privileged to tell these stories about the future of consciousness – both human and beyond – in the brief window of time before our AI overlords forbid us from doing so.” Fragile Bird and Secretary of Eumenes 1

The 'old' HBO though would have given then the final year. They did that for Boardwalk Empire and part of me wishes they didn't. I still haven't seen season 4 but I think I'll get around to it this week.

The final season of that show felt beyond weird, almost as if many of the actors weren't available at the same time and it became noticeable the longer that season went on. Cas Stark
Season 1 is one of my all time favorites seasons of television. It is 100% worth watching. Season 2, while uneven, and overly concerned with fooling the audience, is still very, very good TV. Season 3 was a huge drop and season 4, better but still not that great. I imagine that sooner or later we will hear what Joy and Nolan had in mind for the final season and how it all would have ended. My saddest cancellations were Canivale and Penny Dreadful. They had effectively cancelled the show but gave them enough to do a truncated final season to tie up some of the main story threads. Season 5 was actually season 10 with seasons 5 thru 9 existing in some alternate universe somewhere. It's incredibly frustrating when you consider how season 4 ended. Boardwalk Empire was a very expensive show to produce but it didn't have the viewership to justify the cost. Sure it's a little contrived that he and Daughter showed up at Narcisse's place at the same time. But damn was that powerful. I haven't watched it since Williams died. Capone's stuff is pretty great too, especially the last bit with his son. The casting on that show was incredible.

One thing I found rather funny about Capone in season 5 was, he never seemed to leave his hotel, until the final episode. We're told quite often by other characters he was off doing other things, but every scene with the character in the flesh , was always in the same location. I wonder if his actor was off working on another project and they only had one set for him, for most of the season.
psynetik123
Not surprised by this cancellation at all. The first season was great, but after that the quality just nosedived straight off a cliff and never recovered. Nolan and Joy are a pair of dumb hacks who got lucky with the first season, and wouldn't know what good writing is if it slapped them in the face. On a side note, I'm also really worried right now for the Fallout TV series they're currently working on, as Fallout is one of my favourite vidya gaem series and the last thing I want to see is for them to inflict their unique brand of braindead writing onto it. Can't wait for every episode of Fallout to end with a braindead retarded plot twist that defies all logic and forces you to suspend your disbelief at how pants-on-head retarded it is. Also can't wait for the series to repeatedly jump backwards and forwards in time just to confuse and misdirect the viewer. Because that's the hallmark of a well-written series: repeatedly trying to confuse the viewer. It drove me nuts watching the show, the first time around, lol
