Liars.  They are fucking liars.

People in authority lie to protect their authority? Say it ain't so, Scot!

Meanwhile on the Hill they've done a pretty good job of establishing that Trump knew he was lying and everyone around him thought he was full of shit. Shocking, I know.

More likely? Try an absolute certainty.

But then again as I've said before, the party of Jesus could never actually get Jesus to ever vote for them. Democrats need to constantly point that out even if it doesn't win them any votes.

It's hard to point that out when your leadership keeps serenading Republicans though...

Btw, TFG seems to have vomited out an insanely long statement I can't be bothered to read, but if anyone's interested:

Something nice for a change:

https://www.comicsands.com/levar-burton-book-bans-view-2657502475.html##

Actor and former host of literacy-themed children's television show Reading Rainbow LeVar Burton did not mince words when he spoke out on the wave of book bans that has swept across red states in recent months.

Appearing on The View last Thursday, Burton candidly called the bans of books that discuss race, sexuality and gender "bullsh*t," leading to a conservative uproar over his supposed "blunder."

So Burton immediately spoke out to clarify there was no "blunder," doubling down on his words on The View with a perfect tweet. (...)

...but for conservative media platform The US Sun, the American version of British right-wing tabloid The Sun, all that was heard was Burton's use of an expletive.

The outlet immediately spun a story about Burton's supposed "blunder" that trended for hours on Twitter, and Burton wasn't having it.

He took to Twitter himself to set the record straight, writing:

"I said what I meant and I meant what I said!"

There was far more to Burton's comments on The View than a mere expletive. ...

Quote

Fox News is, to put it mildly, not known for indulging progressive politics – but the rightwing news channel gave it a go on Monday, when Bernie Sanders appeared in a debate on the network’s sister channel, Fox Nation.

Sanders, the Vermont senator, democratic socialist and two-time presidential candidate, took on Lindsey Graham, his Republican Senate colleague from South Carolina.

WTF timeline are we in?

Trump’s whining about big massive dumps, but how many flushes?

When it comes to Trump and big massive dumps, he's not the record holder.  He's the record.

Death threats and doxing, for themselves and family members, going on against the cops in Idaho who arrested th Proud Front terrorists.  The mother of one of them has evicted her son for being a member.  His father came out as gay when he was a kid, and left the family.  He evidently hasn't been able to recover from the loss of his father, his mother thinks.

Gov. Brian Kemp took $50,000 from the Uvalde AR-15 manufacturer, including $25,000 just before Kemp signed a law weakening Georgia’s gun laws.

Hate to gloat, but beware the funny money:

Bitcoin hit an all-time high of $69,000 in November 2021. Since then, the world's most valuable cryptocurrency has lost two-thirds of its value, tumbling below $23,000 Tuesday. It has lost about 25% of its value since Friday.

The Dow is flirting with falling below 30k, which to some degree is necessary, but it's sad to think a lot of people will be hurt by this as inflation in the US just seems to get worse and worse.

McConnell has come out in favor of the (very) limited gun bill based on the deal between Chris Murphy and John Cornyn:

Quote

A centerpiece of the proposed deal is substantial resources for states to implement “red flag” laws, which allow individuals like police or family members to petition courts to keep firearms away from people deemed a risk to themselves or others. [...]

The agreement also contains enhanced background checks for people aged 18 to 21, opening the door to accessing juvenile records as part of a check to determine whether a person can buy a gun. And it seeks to close the so-called "boyfriend loophole" to keep guns away from dating partners convicted of abuse.

Senators are crafting the legislation, aiming to finish the text this week so the chamber can vote on a bill next week, before leaving town for two weeks for a pre-planned recess.

Sounds like it will actually get passed.  Which I guess is something.  And also a demonstration of why McConnell is a more dangerous adversary than your average self-destructive Trumpist.

According to the group who targeted Cawthorne and now have Boebert on their minds, she's had two abortions. Considering her stance on abortion rights (and everything else), I'd be thrilled if that was what took her down.(Ofc they've embraced hypocrisy as a feature, not a bug, so who knows.)

It also gives Biden another legitimate opportunity to call himself bipartisan.

Interesting Jan 6 judge:

McFadden asked prosecutor if it’s possible the Seefrieds might not have known what they were obstructing. Prosecutor: It doesn’t require a PhD in political science for Seefrieds to know what the mob was doing on Jan 6

McFadden asked what if Antifa were amid the mob .. would they be charged too?

Dems today:

"Five progressive council members who voted against the budget because it increases NYPD funding while reducing the Department of Education were punished by the speaker by having discretionary public safety money taken away from their districts. What the actual fuck."

ETA: Hmmm... The Jan 6th committee just released a new video, practically spelling it out: c-r-i-m-i-n-a-l:

Apparently, Bernie was also on Meet the Press (ugh) recently. Something is afoot... I think he's flirting with running in 2024.
