SpaceChampion
I don't know if "best of the internet" is the right term for this, but "we should have known this would happen" is in the running. Scariest thing since Slenderman? Fragile Bird
On 11/30/2022 at 4:37 PM, Maltaran said: This looks like a truly ridiculous film Okay, I had to look it up. A drug smuggler in Georgia in 1985 dumped a bunch of cocaine because it was too heavy for his parachute. A dead bear was found in the woods with 40 opened plastic containers that tested for cocaine surrounding it. That’s about the sum total of a report at the time in the NYT. The bear remains were discovered and some enterprising person stuffed it. It was owned by country and western star Waylon Jennings for many years and kept at his house in Las Vegas. It is now apparently in the possession of and on display in Lexington, KY, at the Kentucky for Kentucky Fun Mall. The crazed murderous bear story is total fiction, but the real story is just as crazy! Poor bear. eta: just found another story. The bear has now been dubbed “Pablo Eskobear”. The drug dealer who dumped the cocaine intended to go find the duffel bag and retrieve it but he died before he could do it. The cocaine was in 34 football-sized bundles. Andrew Thornton was a 40-year old veteran, claimed he was awarded a medal for his role in the US invasion of the DR, worked as a horse trainer and a police officer and then a narcotics agent and then got involved in the narcotics trade himself. At the time of his death he was being investigated for involvement in “vendetta deaths” in numerous jurisdictions. He was a “Starsky and Hutch” type of cop who liked to drive fast cars, popped in and raided people. Man, this movie is strange but so is the real life story!
