I called out that subtext in Laporta’s big statement that they wouldn’t sell FDJ to United two weeks ago. It was just the start of the pressure campaign to make FDJ renegotiate a lower contract or at least waive his deferred wages as he left. I hope FDJ sticks to his guns, especially as he can see the club commit big wages to the new signings they want his help to register. Thy are mortgaging their future, which is shooting yourself in the lung, but they were out of options. Laporta has been super shady about it anyway. They weren't out of options. They could have accepted that things are gonna be tough for a few years, refocused on smart buys with an eye for the future, put time into figuring out what seems to be going wrong at La Masia and found their way back to sustainability- they're not Leeds, they're not going to get relegated even if they fail to make the CL once or twice. They're not even Arsenal who don't have the monetary power to keep up with the top - short of oil barons coming in there too, Barca would be right back to being a financially competitive club in La Liga with not too long a time of sensible running. Seeing Madrid scooping up titles in the meantime would suck, but it'll suck more if this gamble on their future fails and they collapse even harder. Daemon the Leaner
I remember one time last season when I opened this thread, I read "we are stuck with Ronaldo" and he scored a hat-trick the following game. And now I'm reading it again. I'm no Ronaldo fanboy and I wish we wouldn't rely on him too much, but let's not forget who he is please

Consigliere
That's an accurate description. Ronaldo will get his share of goals but others have to sacrifice their own games in order to get him into positions to score. This was an issue that started in his last couple of seasons at Real Madrid where Benzema had to sacrifice his own goal scoring to do the link-up and play making to cater to Ronaldo. Benzema was a 25-30+ goal a season striker but only scored around 30 goals over the last two seasons that Ronaldo was at the club. Soon as he left, Benzema promptly went back to scoring 30+ goals a season. And it's only gotten worse since then as Ronaldo has declined even further. As the Italian press used to say when he was at Juve: Ronaldo is the solution to the problems he creates. The Sunland Lord
I think Inter dodged a bullet not signing Dybala, but Marotta will look bad after failing to wrap him up after months of leaking to the media that he'll get him. Granted, after he got Lukaku back, every report said Inter stopped contacting Dybala. On the other hand, wake up call for the player. He really thought someone will pay him 9-10 million € net per year, but in the end he settled for double less the amount to play in a mediocre team. The Sunland Lord
Juventus tries to hijack Bremer last minute from Inter. They want to offer 10 million more and 5 million net salary for Bremer in case the deal with Inter collapses. If this happens, Marotta should be sacked by Zhang immediately after botching the Dybala deal.

Mark Antony
Once Chelsea backed off I figured no one would buy him. Atleti could probably use him but not sure they could afford it without offloading a couple players. PSG would be the only other club that could/would do it
Rorschach - 2
There has been little talk from me about Bryne FK for a while. Mainly that's down to us steadying the ship (we lost their first six this season, the first five with a 1-2 scoreline) and now sit above relegation (though by no means safe, mind), which is more or less where we will end up. Hopefully. Today's match showed again that we're entirely relinat on set pieces if we're to score. We can't create chances from open play to save our lives. And no, no victory today. 0-2 loss.
