Final fate of Harrenhal

Recommended Posts

What do you think should be the fate of Harrenhal by the end of the saga ? Will the cursed behemothic caste stay in the same situation it had been for three centuries, with it staying in the same relative state and hosting various houses which all eventually die out, or should the castle be finally demolished after someone decide to end the curse story once and for all ?

Or could be the castle be destroyed by dragonfire somehow ?

Could there be a smaller castle or town build upon the land where Harrenhal is right now as Littlefinger plans for now ?

Euron is the Harren of this age. The House of Hoare was unstoppable and ruled a substantial part of Westeros. None of the other houses could match him. Euron will do the same. Conquer the same lands. The dragons will come and give him and his a good roasting. The Tullys and the other families will end, like the Mudds. The Targaryen will raise her supporters to lordships to take their places. As for the castle, it will be burned.

Harrenhal will be the place of Great Council at the end of the series where Bran will be elected as a king. As someone with Whent blood and red hair symbolism and former "bastard daughter" of future late Lord of Harrenhal, Littlefinger, Sansa will organize this whole event as the hostess where lords and ladies of the realm will gather to decide the future of Westeros after whatever transpires in King's Landing (the city will burn, but either by Cersei or Dany's hand I am not sure).

The castle will be demolished and a new one will be built on its ground for the new king and institution (most probably resembling Winterfell in design, as we have Sansa building it out of snow in the Eyrie, she might organize the whole rebuild process), with Harrentown around it rising in population (as it once did during Great Council 101) and becoming the new capital city permanently.

As Tywin noted, Harrenhal is the seat of kings.

It will be convenient for King Bran to visit nearby Isle of Faces and greenmen any time he wants.

That’s very plausible, given that Ned‘s peacekeeping mission (BWB) is in the Riverlands, attended by Iustitia figure Brienne and „Goldenhand the Just“ (who happens to be obsessed by roads-not-taken-Rheagar, whose father spoiled a council of Harrenhal by showing up).
