US Politics: Oh Dearie, Dearie me.

I get the impression that Tulsi thought she would get places as a Democrat because she is female and a racial and religious minority. But once she realised her politics and ideology basically put a hard ceiling on her aspirations she jumped to the side that better fits with her views of the world.

Didn't watch BB, but I don't see her reasoning as very sound, e.g. when it comes to war.

It was just a joke employing the use of pseudoephedrine to make meth in order to say Tulsi Gabbard is not rational nor moderate at all.  I frankly don't even get why anyone still pays attention to her.

You should watch it.

She's attractive and the American people love famous good looking people. Plus these days all you have to do is dunk on one side and you'll find followers, no matter how empty your message is.

It was rhetorical.
Open question, are people for or against only being able to fundraise from people that can actually vote for you?
I find the syntax somewhat puzzling.

That said, these R politicians care not one whit where their money comes from - I would be utterly unsurprised to find them in flagrant violation of even todays almost nonexistent campaign fundraising laws.

For myself, politicians should confine their fundraising to their constituents.

White House unveils application form for Biden’s student debt relief
Borrowers will self-certify that they meet the income threshold for the program.

The White House on Tuesday unveiled new details for how tens of millions of Americans will be able to apply for student loan forgiveness and outlined how it plans to prevent fraud in the relief program.

Senior administration officials released a preview of the application that most borrowers will be required to fill out in order to receive debt relief that President Joe Biden announced in August.

The simple form will be hosted on a .gov website when it goes live later this month, officials said. It will also be available in a mobile format and a Spanish version.

In 2012 I got on Romney's list as contact and received calls all during the campaign season up until election day.   It got to be hilarious and was even called for a large group call with the missus, who bragged about fixing her kids breakfast on the weekends.   So much of a sacrifice!

I just kept knocking on doors for Obama, and laffed wondering how much campaign time and money spent on me.  How I got on Mitten's list, I don't as I am a registered Democrat.  Such mysteries in life.

Ah, got it.

Idk, these days it's enough that she herself thinks she's important. Plus, the dum-dum left (the kind that actually promotes mostly right-wing propaganda) loves her a lot.

Yep that's my point.  She's been trying to appeal to the Chomsky left for awhile now.  But they are neither moderate nor rational.

Yeah, I don't see how Tulsi appeals to the Chomsky left. She appeals more to the Bill Maher left, which I guess is similar to the Jimmy Dore left.

Basically anyone ostensibly on the left who would go on Joe Rogan and agree with Joe more than disagree.

On October 6, New Hampshire Senate nominee Don Bolduc defended the overturning of Roe v. Wade and the subsequent loss of recognition of the constitutional right to abortion. The issue of abortion “belongs to the state,” he said. “It belongs to these gentlemen right here, who are state legislators representing you. That is the best way I think, as a man, that women get the best voice.Republican super PACs are pouring money behind Bolduc.

No surprises here; this is to be expected that the results of an investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety into the lies of Texas policing, is also a lie.

State Investigation Fueled Flawed Understanding of Delays During Police Response in Uvalde
The school police chief was singled out for blame, but a Times visual investigation found that scores of trained officers, including those from an elite Border Patrol unit, took many of the same steps.

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/10/12/us/uvalde-shooting-police-response-investigation.html

Quote

After the massacre in Uvalde, Texas, in May, a simple account of the police response took hold: A school police chief misread the threat and scores of officers from over a dozen federal, state and local agencies, following his command, idly stood by, waiting for equipment and SWAT teams while children trapped in classrooms with the gunman called 911 for help.

This shocking scene was described by the agency leading the criminal investigation of the mass shooting, the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Nearly five months later, despite questions raised by other government reviews and journalists, D.P.S. continues to claim that the evidence supports this version of events and the public understanding it fueled.

But an analysis of footage by The New York Times found major gaps and contradictions in the D.P.S. findings.

Visual evidence from the scene, while limited, indicates the problem was not simply one incompetent school police chief, or officers who knew better, but failed to take action. The available footage shows high-ranking officers, experienced state troopers, police academy instructors — even federal SWAT specialists — came to the same conclusions and were detoured by the same delays the school police chief has been condemned for causing.  ....

...  claims by Mr. McCraw that Mr. Arredondo stymied 360 officers with flawed orders or misinformation are not supported by the available footage, which shows little evidence that commands were issued by the school chief, let alone widely communicated.

The available footage shows the D.P.S. timeline  — which Mr. McCraw told lawmakers was corroborated by “frame-by-frame” video analysis  — miscast Mr. Arredondo’s role and omitted actions, and inaction, by other officers, especially D.P.S. troopers and federal agents, who were involved earlier or more centrally than it notes.

Footage shows BORTAC, the Border Patrol’s elite tactical agents, took charge about halfway into the response, and learned right away that children were trapped inside with the gunman. But it took 37 minutes of planning, testing keys and readying equipment before BORTAC  breached the classrooms. ....

On foreign policy she is definitely more Chomsky than Maher left.  That was my point.  On domestic/social policy she isn't really either.  I'm not familiar with Jimmy Dore.

ETA:  One thing Maher and Gabbard have in common is complaining about "wokism," sure, but that's not really ideological.  For Maher it's because he's a bitter old man and incredibly defensive.

Maher wants carte blanche to say racial epithets. He believes that his days are numbered for it. (In reality, he should just fuck off -- he hasn't had anything new to say in decades and has made plenty of cash).
