Idk, I haven’t seen the match against Rublev, but with Hurkacz and Sinner he has been playing some incredible tennis. He returned the balls no one has the right to return if they’re human.

I remember when Medvedev kicked his ass in US Open final I was pretty sure he’s a done deal. And all he did was immediately step up his game.

Eh, he can always do that, but outside of returns he's a shell of himself. And yet no one can knock him off except Nadal, who is also a shell of himself. Just goes to show how much better the big three were than the field if the two as old men can still slap everyone around.

Alcaraz wins, but the straight 6/3 sets doesn't tell the whole tale. He got broken a lot and could have lost the last two sets if Medvedev could have held serve. I don't gamble on sports, but if I did I'd bet Joker wins pretty easily on Sunday.

A very disappointing match. It could have been a classic between two players who do much more than just hit the ball hard. Instead Jabeur was way off her game, even taking into account that she was obviously unsettled by playing an opponent very different to the ones she beat to reach the final.

Felt very sorry for Jabeur. I like the way she plays, but she was not herself today, and couldn't somehow show her amazing feel of the ball she normally presents. Second final in a row lost to the player who wasn't a favourite at the time must have hurt badly and she admitted it on court. It was a bit like Iga's quarters. Until 4-2 in the first set (5-3 in Iga's case)  it felt nothing wrong could happen to the favourite, and then suddenly her game fell apart badly, never to recover. Shame.

At least tomorrow we can safely bet for favourite's victory. :cool4:

A very sad and disappointing Final. My heart goes out to Ons, it's clear the immense pressure she carries with her clearly got the best of her; she was totally off her game and every time she had opportunities she tightened up and made a bunch of mistakes. She wanted to win so badly it kinda felt like she was trying too hard and every attempted winner that went a little wide or long and every clever drop shot or volley that didn't work out was another blow to her and brought on more mistakes and balls in the net.

We need best of five for the women in the slams, now. It would be so much better for the women's game, and would perhaps have seen a different story unfold today. You just don't get the ebb and flow you sometimes get in a five-setter.

Nice that tennis has finally found somebody new in the mens side!  When it didn't work out on clay this year, I thought we'd have to wait till the US Open before he gave Djokovic a serious test.  But what do I know about tennis. :)

He's better at 20 than any of the big 3 (Nadal was only great on clay at that age).

If a rival or 2 doesn't come along he could destroy all records.

I wouldn't bet on it even if no true young rival emerges. I still think the number will be at least 25 for Novak and it's unrealistic to expect him to match that. It could happen, but let's wait until het gets into the double digits before we start that kind of speculation.

Pretty crazy just four dudes have won this tournament since he was born.
