ASOIAF Roleplaying (RPG): status level divergences

Recommended Posts

Hello.

A question for you who play A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying (ASOIAF RPG).

It seems to be a great disagreement about the status level on both Core Rules and Campaign Guide and I'd like to know your opinion. Each book seems to use its own grading system.

For example, on the Core Rules (2012), it is stated that the maximum status is 10, corresponding to the King of the Seven Kingdoms (p. 67).

But contradictorily, on the A Song of Ice and Fire Campaign Guide, the maximum level seems to be 7, as King Robert Baratheon has status 7 (p. 43). All other character seems to be below this level and thus they are al different from the Core Rules.

Using the Campaign Guide grades seems to cause issues related to character creation and attribution of status points. On the other hand, there are several NPC characters that really make it easy GM's life.

How do you solve this problem? Do you use the Core Rules or Campaign Guide status grading? And how do you adapt one to each other in gaming attributes?

Thanks!!
