At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if a report emerged that showed him having spent his golden years in Florida.

Right Hitler fled to Miami with Meyer Lansky.

Florida Man is a real phenomenon! The number of bizarre and ridiculous stories seemed so common in the news, and I always thought it was the drugs, senility, and humidity. In reality, it's probably due to the state's "Sunshine Law, which makes official records related to state governing agencies accessible to the public." On the other hand, it doesn't explain these everyday events.

Fun thought experiment. I think Hitler would flee to the upper Northeast (Maine, NH or Vermont all work) or the Mountain West, probably Montana or Wyoming. Hitler in the deep South seems like a great premise for a comedy. The neo-Nazis down there would be shocked by his mannerisms.

So, Bolsanaro and some generals have one-way tickets to Florida.  His wife is not on this trip.

This news has Brasil rather agog, wondering what is up -- fear of losing his passport soon? Hmmmmm.  Why is his wife not going? Why are generals going?.

They are expecting to hang out at you know where, according to Brasilian twitters, that Partner is reading to me.

He doesn't want to be there for Lula's inauguration and he is afraid of jail. Wife doesn't go because she is not facing criminal charges, and she, according to some reports, is pissed Bolsonaro listening too much in his campaign to his nuttier son Carlos (a Q-anon type that is even crazier than his father, if you can believe it).

One of the BBC's favorite stories in 2022 (i.e. it's not a current story -- but hey, it's that end of the year thang in the media!).

McDonald's naturally doesn't like that it is so green so is suing.

All Mc Donalds say is they want uniform regulations across the country, not individual municipalities making up their own. As for Tübingen's mayor, Boris Palmer, he was recently re-elected. Running against his own party.

Yeah, but that he ran against his own party had nothing to do with the McD story, tho.

That was down to Balmer being a giant bell, who engages in casual racism. Scrap that, the Greens expelled him from the party because he a is racist manbaby, who blames his racism on cancel culture.

Nah. If you insist on me patching together some conspiracy theory.

Hitler was evacuated from Germany before the arrival of the Red Army by Walt Disney. His remains are buried under Disney World.
To go full tinfoil hat. Prove me wrong, and no, I have no idea what sinister plans they were making after 1945. I can probably cook something up...like meth in Florida. (you didn't think I'd pass over a cheapo, did you?)

Hitler wouldn’t be impressed by the neo-Nazis, either.

The lack of style would crush his soul.

They aren’t on the whole, the sort of people who prove the superiority of the Aryan Race.

I remember one guy, who was jailed for trying to establish a terrorist group, Waffen SS UK.  He was obese, and spent most days in his bedroom eating junk food and watching porn.  He’d have been failed at Bad Tolz.

But he could have had a career in law enforcement (tv joke/reference for the Germans).

Why, if one-way tickets, she didn't go along? Wouldn't you want your wife with you if leaving the country? And why take your generals with you?  This is a very bad look, particularly when going to hang out with u-no-hoo.  Well, Bolsanaro is a bad person, so ya, maybe he is scared.  Just like hoo-hoo is.  Ha!

.... This is a common feature of Chinese industrial policy. If you want to sell your products there, you have to give them access to all the information Chinese companies would need to be able to knock off your products. In exchange for some money right now, you effectively train your own replacement. The polite euphemism for this is "technology transfer."

This demand was a huge problem for Pfizer and Moderna, because currently they're the only ones who know how to make mRNA vaccines, and it's generally accepted now that mRNA delivery is the future of vaccine development. Right now, they own that future.

(China's demand could have been sympathetic if they had been pushing Pfizer and Moderna to release this information into the public domain, which would have let anyone who wanted to use it. That, I could have gotten behind -- but that's not what they asked for. They wanted it to remain a monopoly. Just a monopoly that they could cut themselves in on.)

Both Pfizer and Moderna decided that the deal wasn't worth it, leaving China's citizens with only access to lower-performing, domestically produced vaccines. And so now a lot of people are going to die, unnecessarily.

The Chinese government decided that it was more important to try and get one more industrial advantage for itself than it was to use the time Zero COVID bought to get its people the best protection possible. It's not the only government that put business interests above its peoples' health -- that list is sadly quite long (and includes the United States). But it's disheartening every single time it happens.

For the first time in Colombia’s history, the president went to a cocao growing area – i.e. African descended, very poor – to announce, not the coming of troops with guns, but that the building of a university for the region was to commence. President Petro opened the border to privately owned vehicles between Colombia and Venezuela, which hasn’t been allowed for years. He negotiated a ceasefire between 5 different, rival, armed narco groups in Colombia. He canceled the order for fighter jets his predecessor had placed. He instituted a tariff on imported ‘fast clothes’.  He attended Lula’s inauguration. His twit feed has links to new, young Colombia music artists to watch for.  He wants to build a national music school. His motto is “Peace.”  He is denounced by the nation’s entrenched aristo class and the reichlicans in the US, particularly those who run Florida and Texas, as a communist who is going to turn Colombia into Cuba and Venezuela.

I see Bolsonaro has finally launched his coup attempt.

Heh, it's a Sunday, neither the Congress nor the SC are in session (in fact, both are on recess until February 1st), and there's even less popular support than there was for January 6th. Just a bunch of losers that will accomplish nothing,
