No. But the Tory Party has basically destroyed itself over Europe, forced out all the moderate Conservatives that were actually quite popular with many Tory voters. This situation is existential for the Conservative Party as a political force in the UK for potentially more than a decade to come. So the Tories may choose to struggle on for two years until the next GE, pick another leader who can try to turn things around etc. But the fear is now that international partners, the markets, the banks etc have basically lost all faith in the Conservative Party as any kind of sensible economic force and them just staying in office for two years will damage all chances of a recovery in the short term. I think a general election - our fourth since 2015, in which time period we'd normally have expected to have only had one - might be the only viable way out, with the sane Tories doing their best on their record in Parliament to try to cling onto their seats. The other possibility is a crisis coalition with Labour to try to overcome the crisis, but Truss and the other hardline Tories will never go for that. No political party has ever voluntarily done this to my knowledge. Parties cling to power with a tenacity that would put a limpet armed with superglue to shame. Intellectually they may understand the argument but they can never accept it.

Fez
Huh, Seems like a lot of MPs simply didn't vote? But also this seems like a pretty safe margin for the government, isn't it?

mormont
I go out for a run and somehow Truss has messed up again? You really can't turn your back. A couple of dozen Tory MPs at least have either abstained, not turned up or voted against the government by those figures, in what simultaneously was or was not a confidence vote. Someone should tell Liz Truss that constructive ambiguity doesn't mean 'not even I know what is going on, lol'.

Alas, the UK is discriminatory towards horses. Even those drugged up mules at Ascot would do a better job, and they would just shit in those lobbies (literally).
