Future of House Karstark

Recommended Posts

What do you think that the story of House Karstark, one of the most important northern houses in the story, will be during TWOW and ADOS ? What role and importance will it have during the battle against the Boltons, the Long Night and after ?

Right now Arnolf Karstark's treachery has been discovered by Stannis and he's in an impossible situation with Stannis having him under his hands and threatened with the pyre if he doesn't do what Stannis wants instead of serving the Boltons, Alys Karstark is at the wall and has married Sigorn to found House Thenn, while Cregan Karstark is imprisonned at Castle Black and Harrion the heir is a hostage of the Iron Throne.

What should happen to each of them ? Will Harrion be freed return to the North to become lord of Karhold or will he die south ? Will House Thenn replace House Karstark or will it be given its own land and seat outside of Karhold , and if yes where ?

What will Arnolf do, now that his betrayal is uncovered ? Will he have a role into taking Winterfell for Stannis or the Starks, now that he's under two hard places, could he find a way to still help the Boltons, or will he die ? And what of his son Cregan ?

How will the conflict with the Starks be resolved ?

Harrion may yet survive and return to North but Arnolf and his get, well they will get a good ol' beheading with a nod of Stannis approval with people crying all around "Stannis! Stannis! STANNIS!"

Janos Slynt twisted his neck around to stare up at him. "Please, my lord. Mercy. I'll … I'll go, I will, I...

No, thought Jon. You closed that door. Longclaw descended.

"Can I have his boots?" asked Owen the Oaf, as Janos Slynt's head went rolling across the muddy ground. "They're almost new, those boots. Lined with fur."

Jon glanced back at Stannis. For an instant their eyes met. Then the king nodded and went back inside his tower.

Arnolf and his brood will not survive long.

Cregan may or may not be released in the chaos that's about to envelop Castle Black.

Harrion is a non-entity, he's only ever existed to be a hostage. It would be stupid if he played a crucial role so late in the game.

I think the Thenns will integrate into the North. The North is going to become very savage during this winter, and the Thenns will fit right in. I wouldn't be surprised if House Thenn replaces House Karstark once and for all, representing a new blend of different northerners living together at last.

Karstarks have a huge area under their control, they can always be given some land and be made vassals to Karstarks... or better yet, with Boltons dead, given a portion of the Bolton lands. Even if house Bolton manages to survive, Roose and Ramsay should be executed and stripped of all land and title anyway and if Roose has a new child, it could be married into House Thenn if it's a girl or be given a small land somewhere -like Jaime intends for Edmure's child- if it's a boy. House Bolton has wronged most if not all of the major houses in the North, even if Starks want to be lenient and leave it as is, the other lords would not be so forgiving. Remember, the North Remembers and even the too fat to sit a horse Manderly in his comfy city goes out "hunting" this winter.
