I'm not sleeping well because of a left shoulder injury I've been nursing for three weeks now [MRI is next week] so I was up before sunrise. Let Tulip out into the backyard and she starts barking at the top of one of my trees that broke off. Paced it out, its over 22' long, and at its thickest as big around as a basketball. Missed the house and my back deck by another 20' or so. And I can't just get out the chainsaw to cut it up and pack it away, because my shoulder is fucked. Grumble growl, grumble grumble. MRI Update: Seems it's my neck. Tech was surprised, apparently, because each time she asked me [3 times] if I had pain down my right side as well, in the several minutes she took to walk me through the films [shoulder and neck] the tone of her voice escalated. I haven't slept flat on my back for three weeks, so to say the hour I spent in that infernally knocking machine was painful is an understatement. But I'm home now and the ex offered to pick youngest up from school and drop her off, so it's fucking gummy time. Jikm
My room is so small and I always have in the past seemed to stay in my bedroom for the whole time I’m home. I have a rocking recliner meant for a nursery in here. Not drifting much outside the room, I’m quite happy actually. Since I quit smoking cigarettes I do not have to step foot outdoors. LongRider
The tv mini-series, Under the Banner of Heaven, which is based on the true crime story written by Jon Krakauer, starts deep in LDS Utah, and ends with the bad guys caught in Reno, NV. In the series, the scenes of Reno, the Circus Circus casino and northern Nevada had me laffing out loud. Not only have I lived in Reno but worked for a time at Circus Circus. So why laff? The interiors of the casino were all wrong, either bads sets and costumes, to places in the casino where the bad guys could not have gone. The exterior shots were of the Circus Circus in Vegas, and the northern Nevad shots were of, I think it was Utah. Definitely not Nevada. I guess the showrunners think all desert looks alike. Well, un, nope! Hilarious! Edited November 9, 2022 by LongRider

Raja
Sometimes you read about things that are hard to believe, it's not small but not sure where to post Non medical translation here, copied from the thread. Quote Essentially. Pregnant Moms heart stops. Her and baby are dead. They c section baby, open moms chest to evacuate fluid around moms heart which caused it to stop beating and bring back both mom and baby to life. All in the emergency department. That a c-section can be a necessary step in restarting a heart if fascinating. Weirdly enough I read about it this week because I read a bit about c-sections after watching HotD. RhaenysBee
Well the way to save energy this season is having gas leakage in your building and being cut off from the gas supply. Looking at 6-12 weeks without hot water (and heating - which is the smaller problem) LongRider, Luzifer's right hand, Wade1865 and 1 other
Inkdaub
I am starting a prescription for Quetiapine and had to hit the hospital lab for tests. The results came back putting me .1 point into pre-diabetes range. This can be reversed, I am told, and the treatment is basically 'be healthier'. Meanwhile, a hip/groin condition that seems to run in my family...I have had hip pain all my life...has worsened and shows no signs of chilling itself out as it has in the past. The pain is hip/groin and sort of shooting down my leg as well and is probably bursitis. I am worried I am going to crack my teeth I grit so hard when I put on pants or shoes and lifting the leg is difficult. I grab it and lift it manually to get in and out of the car. I am about to laugh hysterically typing this out. I get my next Covid booster and my flu shot on Monday...no monkey-pox, though. I am thinking of getting one of those rowing machines AND I have sworn off potato chips. In Skyrim, I have my Nightingale armor and it is all I hoped for. However, my backpack...plus 75 carry and buff to lockpicking...does NOT match the set and looks somewhat odd.

What reason have they given for how long it will take, and how cold will it get where you live? Do you have showers at work or a gym you can use? It will take as long as it takes, and it is how it is. You have no control or word in it. You just live with it. #justeasterneuropethings Hopefully the superintendent will get hold of the provider on Monday and email us when we get the first appointment for repairs (which will be several weeks in itself). I’ll shower at sister’s or check out the office gym. I’ll also look into the time and cost of getting a small electric water heater as backup. And I can use the AC for heat that’ll be fine.
