Why Robert Didn’t Give Dontos his Lands Back?

Not a ruined house like Dontos', with only a drunk left in the family that makes Robert look like a functioning drunk. There is no political gain from it, no alliances to be made, no quarrels that are fixed by it that are better off for it, nothing. Other than losing an opportunity to give those lands to someone else that does present and advantageous future prospect. Dontos wouldn't even make a good puppet save for Little Fingers

Except that we don't know if Dontos was a drunk 15 years ago and it's no more a lost oppurtunity than a lord paramount sending his only daughter on month long trips so a half wildling bastard NW member can have his way with him.

Dontos is a dead character whose plot is done. Pondering him is far less useful than pondering Jon. Still salty mate?

Again, even if Dontos wasn't a drunk then, he is mostly useless. Its just him, who is even going to run his house for him? Its a castle that requires more than one man. Dontos had no one. He was useless. No allies, no ties of usefulness, no money, nothing.

No he didn't. My point was Robert has granted him his lands (well a portion) back, so it's not something Robert didn't do, he could've done it for Dontos as well.

Robert still empted the coffers of house Merryweather for this "favor". (I don't have the quote here, but the wiki lists The World of Ice and Fire).

Dontos does not have the money for that.

He is called Dontos the Red for a reason (ambivalent, as George usually does it, meaning his sigil and the usual drunken blush). It is not slapped in one's face but to me it is pretty clear that he developed alcoholism during his stay in King's Landing. There's really not a reason, as a narrator, to delve on it too deeply, since Donto's relevance to the plot is mainly to be Baelish' tool, and then die. He was drunk when he first appeared in a Sansa POV's, drunk when he presented himself in a tourney, drunk during his whole job as court's fool. What more proof can one ask for? A spinoff on Dontos the Red's adventures in the vineyards?
