JGP -- hahaha, nah; Twitter goes well beyond being a mere source of news. For example, communication facilitates awareness, which leads to assistance, that results in progress towards resolution; e.g., @polishgenius's friend. Beyond the domain of information, many other examples can be found in economics, politics, and warfare.

As I said, there's gravity in the platform, as many people in this thread acknowledged. More, the hysterical reaction from some people (amusingly, while on Twitter) demonstrates just how valuable it is. We're seeing an active contest (that is, an ideological conflict) play out in real time, one in which the far left has just been decisively moderated. Elon's intended end-state isn't one dominated by the far right, though; it's something more balanced.

Twitter's unique (to my knowledge) utility as an accessible locus for players (entrepreneurs, politicians, intellectuals, influencers, et al.) and pieces (followers, consumers, observers, students, et al.) to interact directly and exchange resources indirectly. Although I wouldn't doubt some resources can and have been exchanged directly, this will become more concrete once Elon introduces an integrated payment system as well as a means to provide financial benefits to content producers.

It would be a shame if the far left yielded the platform :crying:

You know Wade, I'm a pretty good judge of character and I still don't have a handle on you yet.

To the quoted, you're not wrong either. Didn't say it was exclusive to anything. I just don't see how it Twitter survives Trump. And Elon, this boy is in trouble.

It’s also a source of porn and Nazi memes.

What is the far left to you?

It’s highly unlikely outside of far right reactionaries, crypto-grifters, and SWs anyone will pay to use Twitter.

PS: My sister and I used to have to cut our own switches from the willow tree out front. Obviously I had to do this far less frequently. Because I was the good one. And by 'good' I mean smart.

JGP, Fire and Jace -- comparatively, I was allowed to run wild, never punished, never denied.

JGP -- I wasn't sure, but I responded literally just in case. Thus, @Fire and Jace stands alone; I don't agree with him, but I do respect his position and unique ... je ne sais quoi; his effortless sense of sprezzatura ... on the utility of Twitter and pretty much everything else, hahaha.

I'm not certain Twitter will survive. And allowing the God Emperor to return will have a decisive impact in that it will either 1) crater the platform by facilitating far right domination or, 2) maximize use by attracting attention and traffic in response to people's need for conflict and drama. The ideal response -- for Elon, and my own interests -- is that the God Emperor is reinstated but never makes another social media post outside of Truth Social. Ultimately, I believe Elon will succeed; but I also believe the God Emperor and the Republican party are done. I want both their efforts to run their courses, though (i.e., as I mentioned earlier, exploitation by way of chaos).

On my character, @James Arryn came closer than anyone on pinning down my character, albeit ideologically: capitalist by day, fascist by night. Otherwise, I'm apolitical in action. Morally, I retain the moral code painfully indoctrinated into me by the USA.

That tracks.

Pushing far right ideology while claiming to be acting apolitical also tracks.

This is what I think might amount to fantasy. Do you think Trump will be able to resist?

I salute you.

My younger brother and I had to cut our own switches once or twice ourselves.

Dawg, I used to joke at school about the HILARIOUS dichotomy of your momma handing you a knife. Handing it to you! Putting the KNIFE in your hand. And saying "go get that nice dry one hanging all sad and hardened-looking there. Nah-uh, the other one. Go get it and Imma beat your lyin ass with it." And then you DO!!!

Ain't life a riot? Meanwhile my sister's kids are raised like Wade, but with an Ipad since before they can walk. I fear for them. When I visit the youngest one will open the garage door of his own initiative. Open the fridge. Get a Capris Sun, throw it at me and be like "stick the straw in, bitch, I gotta thurst. Spidey and friends ain't gonna rewatch itself."

I have never seen him drink water. I feel ick when I drink soda in front of him (my bad habbit).
