TV AWARDS SEASON 2022/23 (SAG WINNERS)

I know my opinion on House of the Dragon season 1 is in the minority, and I'm glad that many like it better than me. I also know de gustibus non disputandum est. But I really can't fathom how House of the Dragon can win this award, beating seasons like Better Call Saul Season 6 and Severance Season 1. Maybe I just have to acknowledge that I have bad taste or something.

Not a single nomination for Rings of Power. 60 million dollars per episode, zero nominations. Heads are gonna roll.

Whose fault is it if Bezos forgot to use some of that money to bribe the Hollywood Foreign Press Association?

the GG aren't a serious award show and nobody should take it seriously.

i'm more concerned (for them) with the fact they got snubbed by all the Guilds awards, it's a sign that either their peers found their work lackluster or that they aren't interested in the show. which way it is, i hope that s2 will bring some quality bc if s2 is even remotely like s1, hotd will not get any noms for anything.

That's an interesting take.

Personally I'll stick my neck out and say that HOTD will get tonnes of Emmy nominations because it IS one of the best shows of the year. Why it's getting shut out of the Guild awards is beyond me, but like or hate the GG, more people pay attention to that than SAG.

It's worth noting that in 2012, GoT got a nom for ensemble and a win for stunts ensemble, and then in 2013 it only got stunts ensemble, and then after that Dinklage was the only other person nominated for male actor... and only won in 2020.

So, HotD is actually not doing particularly worse at this juncture (it is nominated in stunts ensemble), and I'm not greatly surprised it hasn't gotten an ensemble nomination simply because it doesn't have as many distinctive personalities as GoT did, and of course was especially hampered by the time-jumping.
