In the US all your local bozos and kids get to play with fire crackers on the fourth of July. Here it's on New Year's Eve (check German politics thread where Mindwalker expressed her happyness about that). Most of those don'T even know the story behind the firecrackers, they just like to see things go boom (to be fair, back when I was a teenager I enjoyed that shit, too). Basically, Chinese tradition, you scare away bad spirits/ghost with the noise, to get a fresh start into the New Year (if I am not mistaken). Anyway, it's been going for days. Boom here, boom there. It's fucking annoying. Scares not just bad spirits, but also real dogs. Good news, will take about a week until they run out of stuff that goes boom. One of those days, I wish I was living in the country side instead of the city. LongRider
LongRider
Ah, I see. We might have firecrackers go off, and gunshots too. Happy New Year when it quiets down.

DireWolfSpirit
Were in a mini warming, 40's°, Which to the uninitiated, is far worse than a foot of snow. When it warms like this it brings the nasty ice or even mud. Snow is much less a winter nuisance in the North than the dreaded ice and mud mess. thgrlwthcurushar
It went and snowed about two weeks ago, but that was an isolated incident because it's nothing but chilly or cold here in southeastern Kansas. It's 35 degrees Fahrenheit at 9:40 pm. Not too bad, but does that mean there will be worse weather later? I can't wait to see how chalk white my skin looks. Might need to take some Vitamin D... IheartIheartTesla
Speaking of weather, today is Perihelion Day, showing you how much more important tilt of the earth's axis is compared to distance from the sun.
Wade1865
Sunshine. Too much sunshine! Worse, low 70s right now.
Fragile Bird
Rain. Rain. Rain. More rain. Better than snow. I can’t imagine how much snow I’d be shoveling if hadn’t been rain. And I gather the next massive rainstorm has hit the US west coast already and will cross the country like this one.
LongRider
Yes, the West Coast rainstorm hit last night. Heavy rain and high winds. Flood warnings out and down tree warnings as well.
thgrlwthcurushar
It's pretty sunny here, and although the DuckDuckGo search engine of my current city comes up with just 48 degrees Fahrenheit, I still went out in my new Old Navy babydoll tank top to shop at Big Lots. Fragile Bird
Holy smokes, looks like California is being washed away. Anyone build a big boat out there to load up the animals two by two? JGP

Zorral
Cold. Dreary. I.e. seasonable January. Winter. I rather like winter, at least winter above 31 degrees.
