Yeah, but he doesn't have the same caché now that he isn't pwning the libs by being Republicans' sassy gay friend.

Also without tons of Mercer (or whoever his benefactor was) cash supporting him

And why do you think that happened?

When you stop feeding the troll, it tends to die.

Tate has been outing himself as a rapist and he was getting more and more attention till the authorities actually arrested him. 6ix9ine was convicted of creating child pornography and he didn't lose public attention till he started snitching after his RICO charge. Roman Polanski is a convicted child rapist and he's got to make movies till he dies.

Even being a known nonce wouldn't have put Milo out of commission if certain people controlling the output hadn't collectively decided it was so.

Not to be glib, but... yo...

People suck

It was Republicans who cancelled him. They applauded every vile thing that came out of his mouth. Then he started spitting too much truth I guess.

Doesn't he work for Boebert now?

He literally outed himself as a pedo with his free speech, didn't he???

Like isn't that what happened? I don't mean to come off like an expert but I thought he went on some podcast and ran his mouth and that was it for him

Nick Griffin, the leader of the BNP, did himself no favours when he was eventually allowed on Question Time.

I see. I, otoh, make no claims at remembering anything. So, I ask you, how can you be so sure we disagreed at all?

Are you talking about the masking thing?

no I’m talking about them saying they want to end democracy.

Isn’t it a bit different now? Genuine question, I’m curious b/c my only view into this is from the outside. But looking from the outside, it seems there was a rejection of extreme maga n the midterms… which is great but maybe not enough yet.

Individual MAGAts weren’t covered extensively by the media like Trump and Trump himself has always outperformed his endorsements.

It’s the paradox of democracy.  What do you do when bad arguments win?

there’s also a question what winning is classified as?

is it just convincing the most people?
—what happens when 30% of the people who bought into argument just flat out subjugate the rest to their well.

'Never heard of this guy but he has almost 2 million followers. Apparently he's a twitch/youtube streamer and a pretty successful one. That's nice.

I am open  to the idea that this is a parody account. If so, this guy is fucking brilliant. Totally committed to the persona and 'never winks at the camera ever. The man's an artist.

This is what tipped me off. He made this. HE MADE THIS.

Going back to this Emory was by all accounts an alcoholic, which is why his marriage fell apart and his wife moved back to England with the kids. So yeah, that massive argument between his parents probably really happened.

Anyway, there's a story of an expert level player challenging Emory to play a few blitz games for money. The expert felt this was a good idea, because Emory was clearly intoxicated and had a bottle of whiskey in hand. He invited spectators to join the show hustling the great Emory Tate out of money. The story went like this,  Emory poured himself glass after glass, while cleaning out that big mouth. In the end the other guy had to walk away in humiliation with Tate yelling after him to come back, when he had the money to play some more.

There might be some exaggeration in this tale, as stories tend grow over time, but I have little doubt that a drunk Emory Tate hustled some big mouthed moron out of his money is true.

@A Horse Named Stranger -- [pulled from the other thread].

It’s an interesting story, thanks! Exaggerated or not, the story gives additional insight on how Andrew was socialized, and why he turned out so ambitious.

Notable is that he seems to have outsized influence. More, that such a niche personality captured so much attention, globally. I’ll be following this to it’s conclusion!

There’s never an example given of bad people being given a platform to lie or spread hate that ultimately leads to positive outcomes.

I guess as long as you think the people that clawed their way to the apex of your favored party are Good People, there's nothing to worry about.

Because there's a whole lot of lying and spreading hate going on right now.

Yeah, very graphic. Don't make it not true.

Extortion is more likely I think.

Tons of softball interviews too. "Hey Mr. Trump, you must be having so much fun."  Whereas Bernie Sanders gets on CNN and they open with, "So tell us how you're not like Stalin." or some such.

https://www.commondreams.org/views/2016/12/03/how-media-iced-out-bernie-sanders-helped-donald-trump-win

Lol.  The biggest area where Sanders and Trump overlap is populism.

Saying the media suppressed Sanders to elect Trump?  No.  The media suppressed Sanders and magnified Trump because they wanted Clinton and wrongly thought that was the path.

(Though to be more accurate the media doesn't support anyone, they obey their billionaire owners or get throttled down.)

They were just wrong about either what the people thought or what the fraudsters were prepared to deliver for the establishment uniparty circa 2016.

Check your own assumptions, try to understand the side you don't agree with, and then persuade people.

I kind of get the impression that you think democracy would be safer if the state could just shoot those damned deplorables.

Eh, dude I’m sure you can think of a few entities in your who are bad simply just continued to benefit through continued plyatformimg.

But sure deplatforming is a tool humans have always used that can be used to achieve good or bad ends.

Multiple republican senators have stated the US is not a democracy and Trump literally said it’s necessary to disregard the constitution to give him the presidency back.

You yourself have shown you will only accept your side’s victories in elections as legitimate—when beaten you immediately cry fraud.
