I don't know why they are saying 'in his past.'

George Santos appears to admit drag queen past in Wiki post
A user with the name Anthony Devolder wrote in 2011 that they won several drag pageants. Anthony Devolder is a Santos alias.

The Wiki bio for Anthony Devolder, which is full of spelling and grammatical errors, appears to contain fantastical descriptions of his supposed career in show business. It claims that he had a part in Disney’s “Hannah Montana,” among other examples.

Maybe this should be in the forthcoming films thread of Entertainment? :dunno:  Although film it may be...entertaining this is not.

I hope this triggers outrage’: surprise Brett Kavanaugh documentary premieres at Sundance
Covertly-made Justice, from director Doug Liman, shows to sold-out audience and shines new light on allegations of sexual assault

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2023/jan/21/brett-kavanaugh-documentary-sundance-film-festival

Quote

.... Justice was made in secrecy over the last year, with NDAs signed by everyone involved. The project was self-funded by Liman, making his documentary debut. He told the Hollywood Reporter that the supreme court holds “special meaning” to him, his father having been a lawyer and activist and his brother a federal judge. He was frustrated by the FBI investigation into Kavanaugh that “never happened”, and sought the help of renowned documentary producers Liz Garbus and Herdy, both with specialised experience of films about sexual assault allegations, to do the work that he saw as unfinished, if barely started at all.

At the Q&A, he expressed the importance of secrecy, speaking about “the machinery that’s put into place against anyone who dared to speak up” and an awareness that this machinery would be turned on the film if it was made public.

“There would have been some kind of injunction,” he said. “This film wouldn’t have been showing here.”

It was only screened to Sundance high-ups on Wednesday before being officially announced on Thursday. It premiered to a sold-out cinema on Friday.

In the past few years, the festival has become a regular home to a number of investigative documentaries about alleged sexual predators in the public eye. Figures such as Michael Jackson, Bill Cosby, Russell Simmons and former Sundance mainstay Harvey Weinstein have all been spotlighted.

Since the announcement of Justice, Herdy confirmed they have been “getting more tips”, which started arriving just 30 minutes after the press release went out. Liman added that the film, which is seeking a distributor, will now possibly need to be extended and re-edited.

Herdy added: “It’s not over.”

Ron Klain set to depart as Biden’s chief of staff.  Sounds just about right in terms of timing.  Two years is probably how long a CoS should last - at least the first two years of a presidency which are particularly arduous.  Be interesting to see who his replacement is.  The article mentions Anita Dunn, Steve Ricchetti, and Jeff Zients as leading candidates.

Meanwhile, yet more GOP abortion lunacy.

First, a bit of political theater in the House:

Then Kansas joins the Red States mentioned in the last post in subverting the will of the people.

Has Tucker ever talked to a real cigarette smoker?  Hey Tucker, I smoked for many years, made me cough, gave me headaches and hoo-boy did my hands stink.  I was able to quit after about 40 tries.  Seriously stupid.

Plus it's super awesome for pregnant women waiting to give birth to the next generation of conservative leaders. Think of the tiny, little conservative leaders.

I mean that Tucker Carlson clip is just classic.  Even before the tobacco/THC thing.  "They closed the gyms during covid."  JFC.  But it is rich comedy gold.  The bowtie fuck is going to tell me about smoking nicotine and TCH?  The only thing Tucker Carlson is less qualified to talk about is attracting women.

I mean seriously.  Nicotine frees your mind?  Right.  I've been smoking cigarettes for a quarter century because they help me think deeply.  AND THEN, weed makes you "compliant?"  Uh, what?  I'd say little boy Tucker is taking crazy pills, but he probably assumes crazy pills make you sane.

Anyway, for all of you that hate cigarettes, don't worry, I'm gonna go smoke one for you right now.  Well, at least one.  Jesus fuck what an idiot...

This might be almost encouraging -

US Border Patrol polygraph test wipes out half of eligible applicants (msn.com)

Nearly half of new US Customs and Border Protection recruits are failing mandatory polygraph tests, causing a crisis in the agency which is struggling to replace thousands of agents who are scheduled to retire in the near future, according to a report.

“We’re losing a lot of people, including those who have prior military service, who have active security clearances, and they fail a CBP polygraph,” Jon Anfinsen, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council, told Fox News this week. “It doesn’t make any sense.”

Anfinsen added that nearly 50 percent fail the polygraph or lie-detector component of the vetting process, putting a strain on the federal agency’s capability to hire new agents.

"The Monterey Park Fire Department responded to the scene and treated the injured. And pronounced 10 of the victims deceased at the scene," he said.

At least 10 other victims are in the hospital following the incident, he added. "There are at least 10 additional victims that were transported to numerous local hospitals and are listed in various conditions from stable to critical."

How utterly stupid! As the article itself says

Quote

Although the tests are not admissible in court and have been banned by most private companies to screen employees, they have been mandatory for Border Patrol for the last 10 years.

As a psychology professor I am continually amazed at the creedence people put in lie detectors despite all of the research that shows they are very unreliable -- and much more likely to tell you someone who is really telling the truth is lying than to get it wrong the other way around.  It is just outrageous that the border patrol is using this unreliable method to completely weed out candidates.

Zients as CoS is a clear indication Biden wants to separate the WHO from the reelection campaign, with the former focusing on governing.  Wonder if he officially moves Dunn and/or Ricchetti to the campaign after he announces.

I wonder what questions they fail?

I don't have faith in lie detectors nor do I have the knowledge to dismiss them entirely.

But I am wondering what they ask?  what would they ask? Have you lied on your application? Is this your real name? Have you stolen on the job?
