Spare a Moment for H&M, Part 3

So we now have the ultimate crossover, I believe.  I have been following the Disney/Florida/DeSantis/Reedy Creek saga with all of my nerdy Disney-loving lawyer heart.  Disney appears, for now, to have out-lawyered DeSantis' ability to mess with WDW.  https://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/os-ne-disney-new-reedy-creek-board-powerless-20230329-qalagcs4wjfe3iwkpzjsz2v4qm-story.html

Here's where it is fun.  There is an ancient doctrine called the "rule against perpetuities" (which was basically enshrined in the common law to prevent dead hand control perpetually over land).  The basic rule is you can tie things up for a life in being plus 21 years.  Historically, the person picked was the king or queen of England or their descendants, because that is a life that is well documented and known.  Well, that's what Disney did.  They picked the last surviving member of King Charles plus 21 years.  Lilibet is like 2....making her the ultimate...Disney Princess.

I have no idea what any of that means but it sounds amazing.

Dismissed.

The Morgan and Wooton types were fucking salivating at the thought of H+M being deposed. Aw shucks.

I’m also seeing that Harry et al’s lawsuit against Associated Newspapers is holding up Paul Dacre’s nomination to the House of Lords.

It’s dismissed “without prejudice” which means she can try suing again. The judge states she can try one more time to get relief. I wonder if she’ll try.

The claims regarding the Oprah interview were “without prejudice”, the claims about the Scobie book were “with prejudice”. (I think). There was a lot going on there.

the claims about the Oprah interview were a particular sticking point at the last hearing because Scammy’s filing “paraphrased” segments of the interview and didn’t include the actual words spoken or a transcript. That point ion of the complaint was heavily revised and some portions removed. That’s some crack legal talent she’s hired right there.

She will probably re-file. Assuming this whole thing has always been about generating tabloid fodder.

It's true they would be slammed no matter whether he/she/they went or didn't go.  It doesn't help that the will they/won't they was long and drawn out, with H even missing the RSVP window.

I don't know if it's really surprising that a couple who have trashed the royal family and the British media would be....treated harshly by the royal family and the British media.

Yes, the same media shills that were outraged by the thought of Meghan attending are now outraged by her not attending.

At least we can all rest easy that poor "the hardest thing I've ever done" Kate will be spared further trauma.

They should have blatantly just asked the mail etc do you think we should come or not come and pinned them to a decision before they made it? So they couldn't be cunts regardless of what they decided.

Hmmm, just judging by the headlines in that link, most of those articles are critical of Harry, not Meghan.....but of course that doesn't fit the narrative.

I guess you'd be the authority on this because you probably read every single one of them.

Is it supposed to be some kind of penetrating insight that Meg and Harry after a 2+ year campaign against the monarchy, were going to be criticized no matter whether they did or did not go to the coronation?

It’s like you could just repeat the mantra ‘what did you expect to happen??’ to Meghan at every single stage since she met Harry.

Is it supposed to be some kind of penetrating insight that just because these people meet the horrible expectations of being ridiculously hypocritical and hateful media we're not supposed to criticize them for doing so?

I'd say, "surpassed expectations", a long time ago. Like the slick asshole on a recent panel discussion who joked about hanging  Archie over the balcony like Michael Jackson. And the similarly pasty ghouls who chuckled at the notion. Congratufuckinglations, you're a grown man scoring points off a 3 year old boy. I wouldn't shed a tear if they all got cancer of the eyes.

And I'll say again, this is not some vague environmental phenomenon. There are maybe a handful of organization and a dozen public personas who have made a professional sport out of going after this family.

Only thing that surprises me about this is they didn't say Lilibet.
