Football: Fever Pitch

I tuned in to the second half of Brighton-Liverpool match yesterday and I must agree that had both Konate and Fabinho been sent off I, as a Liverpool fan, wouldn't have much to complain about. Also, the defensive performance for that Mituma's goal was horrible.

While I still hope for a late-season winning streak that would get Liverpool to top 4, I'm edging closer to thinking this is a write-off season. It's just insane how far Liverpool's performances have dropped off this season.

Nobody watched Ryan Reynolds vs Sheff Utd then?

Really good game in fact, thats one to go in the documentary. For Wrexham to go a goal down in the first minute, lose a couple of players to injury, then come back into it and be winning in the 90th min, only to concede at the death is all pretty damn Hollywood.

Actually, did watch it.

It was a fun game. Bit of the same issue for Wrexham as vs Coventry, when meeting the big(ger) boys, the desperately lack pace at the back. They have control and composure on the ball in midfield and forward areas, and Forde as a right wing back was better than Hall-Jones (might be wrong name there) last match, but whenever Sheffield ran at them with pace, it looked dangerous.

Assuming they stay on course for promotion, CBs will be important to aquire.

Remember how we used to laugh at Barca buying every player that couldn't hide fast enough...

I mean, there were/are questions about the sustainability of Barca's approach. But boy, Boehly is taking buy and burn any pretense of sustainability to a new level. I get it, they will offer him a 100 year contract, so that he will only cost them 1m in fees from a book keeping perspective, but the actual funds have to come from somewhere...He is playing so fast and loose on the transfer market, that I hope they go bust as a matter of principle.

I suspect there might be something around the changes to FFP rules which stagger the amount of money a club can lose over the next few years, maybe Chelsea are spunking all this cash now so they don't have to later. Not that it makes any sense. The big hoo har about the 8 year contract loophole the UEFA are closing shows Chelsea are very much trying to take advantage of accounting methods to maximise their earnings.

Dyche confirmed, thoughts and prayers to Everton fans.

Everton's squad pretty much feels like they've been trying to entice Dyche for the past few years by buying players ideally suited to his style of play. I'm sure he will be fine to work with Tark and Keane and McNeil again. Maupay and DCL are basically the sort of big non scoring striker he likes.
