A Horse Named Stranger
Can they still register him past deadline day? Reading that they are about to sign him would suggest there are exceptions for Free Agents.
Consigliere
Don't know about other leagues, but in England free agents can be signed/registered outside of transfer windows provided that they were released from their former club before the end of a transfer window. BigFatCoward
I still don't see how they can use him though, the evidence was pretty damning. Just because (it appears) the victim doesn't want to proceed, doesn't mean he can just suit up on Saturday surely? Consigliere
I doubt he'll play a part this season. He's been suspended and not trained with the squad for over a year. Don't know what happens after that though. United might still terminate his contract but with all charges dropped, it'd have to be by mutual agreement. His contract runs to 2024 2025 so the club will have a decision to make. Technically he is available to play this season since he still qualified as an U21 player at the start of the season and U21 players are automatically registered on the B list. polishgenius
Literally on tape. Fucking madness. I really don't want to see him in the shirt again. Guess it partly depends on ETH and team-mates. I mean, if I was in that dressing room I'd be marching to the manager's office saying I refuse to work with someone who's so obviously done what he did, but they worked with Ronaldo, so... baxus
It's not up to players to do that. Even if there was some player (or players) in Man Utd dressing room with enough authority and influence to pull that off, it's not their responsibility or even their job. It's the manager who should handle stuff like that, or maybe club chairman and board. But given the legality of his status I doubt he'd face dire consequences, if any. We may dislike it all day long, but in the eyes of the law he's not guilty of anything and must not be punished only for being charged. polishgenius
Being not guilty in the eyes of the law means he must not be punished by the law. It doesn't mean private instituations- like United- or people aren't free to tell him to fuck off. Like, for United it might be complicated to actually fire him, but they don't have to play him or renew his contract.
BigFatCoward
I'd like to think I'd refuse to play with him. But who am I to talk? Look what my colleagues have been up to recently. And everyone and his dog playing/covering/commentating in the Qatar world cup showed how much moral fibre football people have. A Horse Named Stranger
Sell to Arsenal? /sarcasm Anyway, just took a quick read over at Redcafe. There really are some, how to say it nicely, quality posters there, who would want him back uncondtionally, or conditionally (my favorite was, if his girlfriend said, she doesn't want his United career to be over...) But realistically, his career should be over, at least in the European top leagues. Maybe he can start over in Russia and play alongside Promes. Rorschach - 2
No matter. We'll get Neal Maupay to grow a foot or so, and we're good to go. ETA: was in response to the Ayew-to-Forest news. Greenwood can go elsewhere. Anywhere, really. Edited February 2 by Rorschach -

Consigliere
The Athletic did a piece about a year ago looking into United's options wrt Greenwood. The article might be paywalled but you could always paste the link into archive.ph to read it. https://theathletic.com/3109291/2022/02/06/can-manchester-united-sack-mason-greenwood/ 4 hours ago, polishgenius said: Literally on tape. Fucking madness. The audio was pretty damning. Back in November, a statement was released saying that Greenwood would be appearing in court next week (10 Feb) for a case management hearing and his trial date was set for November this year. Two months later - all charges dropped. The CPS statement said it was a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material coming to light which meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction. The Sunland Lord
That's strange, there was too much evidence.
Consigliere
Haha. I’m seeing that Juventus could be facing another points deduction. Reports saying that the prosecutors office are going to ask for a 20 point deduction (when the case goes to trial) for violations of salary agreements with players, opaque partnerships with other clubs and dealings with agents. A Horse Named Stranger
Well, you might be tempted to say couldn't have happened to a nicer team in Serie A, but then you realize there'll always be Lazio.

BigFatCoward
Rumours that we are interested in Bellingham, while i'd love to have him, no way could we a) currently attract him ahead of RM or MC b) comply with FFP c) justify moving Bruno or Joelinton to accommodate in any way
