Population of Westeros continued

Recommended Posts

It has been suggested often that the population of westeros is less than medieval europe however this doesn't actually make sense given that conditions allow for large populations even far north as skagos, bear island and even the valley of thenn.

the arbour has the means to operate a thousand ships despite being a relatively small island, consistent with large maritime trading empires like genoa or venice, strongly suggesting that the Reach is not less populous than comparable countries in the real world, at worst its half as populous but twice as large.

Dorne is both the least populous and has a sizable population which pushes the others up even if we accept that Dorne has a similiar population in absolute terms to the Stormlands.

the fact that the Umbers and Mormonts have sizable armies confirms that even their lands have a decent level of population.
