The Small Stuff That Doesn’t Need a Thread #5

I'm being forced to grow up at 30 y.o. My Mom doesn't want me to come shopping with her anymore, she hasn't said it to my face but I heard her saying things like, "Quit your dating of me" and something else about the clothes she buys for me. I think I'm going to obey her because it's the less uncouth way to go. And watch, it'll be the only answer she wanted from me: to not have to see me and provide for me. Then I'll be my Mom's fave person in a backwards way. I'll grow up!

Uh, and now we have to get up when it is still dark because it is an hour earlier. This is ridiculous, you are not "saving" any daylight, just moving it to the late afternoon and forcing people to get up earlier.

I used to not be bothered at all by the time change, but now it is really hitting me. And I just can't be grumpy at work. That's the students' job.

This change is great for me. Psychologically its so much better your kids waking you at 0600 instead of 0500.

Long story short, you are getting old. Ok, that remark will make you probably more grumpy tomorrow. Ah, you know where this is going... :D

DST also means people who have to work outdoors have to do so for longer in the hottest part of the day.

Does it?  Is DST the one we're on now?  Because if [your] shift is 7am to 3 pm, that's way better to avoid the hotter weather than if we stayed with winter time.  If we don't "spring ahead", you get stuck with more working hours after solar noon.  The 3-5 hours after solar noon are the hottest part of the day.  If I'm not going to be bothering customers by starting early, I start at 6 am sometimes in the summer in order to be done before it gets super hot.

Gets me out of the heat by 2 pm.

Starting at 8 am DST (which would be 7 am on standard time, right?) would put me outside for more of the hotter part of the day.

Or another way to put it, whether you're working a 7am-3pm, 8am-4pm, or 8am-5pm shift outdoors, DST avoids more of the heat than ST does.  The 9-5 DST is going to be hot, but relatively few outdoor jobs are 9-5.

Pulling that shit on a plane should be a federal offense and anyone who acts to stop it should have complete legal immunity and receive a large cash reward. It's just a shame you can't throw the person out the door...

What a degenerate idiotic piece of trash this sorry excuse of flesh was before he did the world a favor and ended his life. But first he needlessly took 38 innocent people with him.

A motive has been pieced together for the Mandaylay Bay mass shooter who fired over 1000 rounds into a concert from a 38th floor suite.

It was over his wreckless casino losing.

"Investigators determined that Paddock spent $1.5 million over two years, including debts paid to casinos; meanwhile, a look at 14 of his bank accounts showed he had $2.1 million in September 2015 but only about $530,000 two years later."

It stole an hour of my damn weekend!
