I feel for Conte, hope he has a good recovery, but it does feel like this is the beginning of a diplomatic parting of ways.

Funny that all it took for Rashford to become the best player in the world was for Ronaldo to fuck off.

And to think I was turning my nose up at the prospect of signing him. What a wally.

In seriousness, it's so clear that something's right with the coaching he's getting that wasn't before. It's looking more and more like this is a genuine upturn in class and not just a particularly hot run of form.

In other news, Frenkie De Jong played, but I didn't notice him.

couldn't watch our game. From the highlights, it looks like we put a decent performance but were very lucky not to concede at least one more goal in money time. Our 2nd goal was lucky as well.

So, doesn't sound very reassuring for the 2nd leg. A defeat wouldn't harm our schedule, though.

Nah. We can't get complacent, but there's far more positives to take into the second leg than worries imo. Sancho probably should have scored, Rashford had them on toast second half (and they were lucky not to be a man down), and their second goal was no less lucky than ours. It was quite an even game, and the shot count does say that, but I feel like the quality of our chances was a little better and if the game goes similarly again we should win.

And we'll probably have Martinez back while they'll be missing Gavi. Potentially also Pedri, though I honestly do hope his injury isn't serious. Busquets might be back, mind.

However you were very fortunate, that the VAR didn't interfere on Fred's handball. With the current rules, that was as clear a penalty as it gets.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the chairman of one of Qatar's biggest banks, has confirmed his foundation will bid to buy Manchester United.

BBC Sport understands that Ineos, owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, also officially made a bid before Friday's 22:00 GMT 'soft deadline' for proposals.

Sheikh Jassim's Qatari consortium said: "The bid plans to return the club to its former glories.

"The bid will be completely debt free via Sheikh Jassim's Nine Two Foundation, which will look to invest in the football teams, the training centre, the stadium and wider infrastructure, the fan experience and the communities the club supports.

"The vision of the bid is for Manchester United to be renowned for footballing excellence, and regarded as the greatest football club in the world."

Described as a life-long Manchester United fan, Sheikh Jassim is chairman of Qatari bank QIB and the son of a former prime minister of Qatar.

His consortium did not provide any details on the amount they proposed to purchase the club for.

There are also expected to be at least two offers for United from the United States, while there have been suggestions of interest from Saudi Arabia.

That means there could be up to five parties trying to negotiate a full sale, with others looking to make a smaller investment in return for a partial stake in the 20-time English league champions
