Catelyn, the Stoneheart

He didn’t try to kick Pia out, he did kick her out - after she’d been so horrifically brutalised by so many… like it was her fault. And I was referring specifically to this exact incident when I said I find his lack of compassion and empathy, and his general arseholery revolting. And yeah, he had a crush on Rhaella…

But Hildy was “hanging out” w/ Jonos Bracken iirc? I don’t think she ever crossed paths w/ Hasty, but don’t quote me on that, I’m not sure. At any rate, I’m sure he’d thoroughly despise her as well.

I wasn't sure it was Hildy, but she is bawdy I think that's why she stuck out in my mind as the lady with the crown.  It was a sex worker wearing a crown proclaiming herself queen o' the whores and dammit, it should have been Hildy.  I'm sorry to test your recall here.  Baelor is a moron, agreed all the way around and I think Jamie gets that.  I was just being silly.

Bonifer Hasty may be a narrow minded prick, but considering what the Riverlands has been through, having a narrow minded prick in charge is far from the worst fate I can imagine.  And his troops appear competent and well-behaved, which is a substantial improvement on recent conditions.  To run the Riverlands, a narrow minded prick might well be the best man for the job.

I think Stoneheart's fate will be at the hands of Arya or that her story will eventually be linked closely to Arya's since Arya's wolf found her corpse. specifically for Arya to see the very end of a revenge-filled life and give her mother the gift of mercy. that'd be a messed up closure, but a closure Arya needs nonetheless.

p.s. when I read the title I thought "we are not done with ______ , the ____heart theories?!" .....

I don't recall who she was with and as soon as I hit "submit reply" I'm 2nd guessing myself.  This crown she was wearing might be the crown LSH actually does all that creepy twirling with.  I promise, soon as TWOW is announced I will reread in earnest.

I believe so, Jamie went to the guy's tent and found him shagging a woman who declared herself Queen of Whores.  It's the chapter where he saves Edmure.

Here's the quote from the Wiki:

Quote

A Feast for Crows

Ser Jaime Lannister visits the captive Edmure Tully on the gallows during the siege of Riverrun. When Ser Ryman Frey arrives with his whore, both are drunk and the woman's breasts are exposed. Ryman has crowned her with the crown of Robb Stark, taken by House Frey after the Red Wedding. While dismissing Ryman from the siege, Jaime tells him he may take his whore, but not her crown.[1]

Ryman is hanged by outlaws while returning to the Twins.[2] After being captured by the brotherhood without banners, Brienne of Tarth sees Lady Stoneheart holding Robb's crown.[3] The fate of Ryman's prostitute is unknown.

Chapter 38, Jamie VI.  She's wearing Robb's crown, is that the one your thinking of @Curled Finger ?

Yeah, that’s it. Love to see Jaime dealing w/ asshats like Jonos Bracken and Ryman Frey. - so many Freys it’s hard to keep them all straight in my head, I think the one w/ the queen of whores is Ryman…

You are so good.  That's it.

And I was half right too!  He doesn't requisition the crown but he does tell someone to get it from her AND the popular idea is that this is the crown LSH has.   I felt terrible for derailing the topic and confusing my friend and being dumb.   Now I just feel like a normal poster again.  Thanks so much LongRider.

First of all, you are not dumb, it's not much of a derail and it got sorted out.  Plus, I like looking things up, especially when I can find and share them.   All good as far as I'm concerned.

No, please no. I’d rather have upwards of 2/3 of the characters summarily executed just to avoid that scenario. Seriously.

Your mileage may vary! Personally, I'd much rather the story be told in full, no matter the delay.

If your concern is specifically about writing speed and more delays, I don't have any proof for this claim, but I strongly suspect Mr. Martin's biggest problem with The Winds of WInter is trying to put square pegs into round sockets: to wrap up the series in two books, when three or even four books (three books for each "act" seems logical) are necessary.

I know he has sufficient skill as an author not to make it a complete disappointment, but I would still be highly dissatisfied if he just kills off most of the cast in TWoW-as-one-book in order to wrap things up quickly.

Don't worry James, I don't think you're stupid. /cdn-cgi/mirage/e7cdc3d1b42064bbcb7493ddaf3c1b2d3511a1895af109f2c96f899ee8a13be4/1440/https://asoiaf.westeros.org/uploads/emoticons/default_grouphug.gif

You’re only saying that for Renly’s sake, but I’ll take it. :)

I think you have very insightful observations about Renly, and Stannis, and...uh...

In all seriousness though I do admire your eloquent manner of posting and use of reason and logic. Before I made my account I used to browse the older threads and I always thought your submissions were among the best written.
