Everyone in the area(slaver's bay) was brain dead long before Dany to be honest, especially the slaves. They have a slave population far outnumbering them and even arm them en masse and those armed slaves have not for once rebelled. I'm curious as to ratio of Rome's slave to free population that it got three servile wars and they didn't have slave armies like these Ghiscari. In Spartacus' war rural populace, former soldiers etc. joined too, not just slaves.

To be fair

We dont know if there havent been rebellions , most likely the non brainwashed(ie non unsulied)  slave troops lot in life is  prob better than even some  free people  hence few rebellions (some slave troops  we see may be hastily raised  though)

Plus if there were any thoughts of rebellion we see the sheer massive  forces that can come.to.bear quickly on any rebellion getting started! All of essos (bar bravos) is in on the trade!

Youd have forces  from the various city states around slavers bay ,new ghis legions , sellsword companies , any passing khalassar or slaving pirate forces , all the way back to quarth and the free cities!!! Mix in assasin cults  (from magic to plain)  and gladiators for sale to help.quash guerilla movements!

Lack of Northern navy at Sunset Sea and existence of Ironborn. After all IB had raided Western parts of the North thousands of years and Starks had done nothing to eliminate that threat. Another annoying thing is that people who want to gain riches and sex slaves invaded huge swamp without any gold or women instead of major city like Lannisport.

Yeah, why didn't those troops aid Robb in the first place? I'm getting the feeling those hill clansmen aren't as First Man as they claim, not supporting their liege but supporting a foreigner who burns the Old Gods.

Wasnt it supposed to be they are spread out over the wastelands and it takes time to smooze and assemble  them? Time robb didnt have

Plus thinking of a simple soluution we can assume.none of these hillbillies has a maester and thus is out of the 'ravemail' system to be contacted for quick assembly

It is true though that it doesnt make sensw that  robb didnt send a few riders to begin assembling them though for use later in his campaign!

There are "two score" hill clans and several of the bigger ones have their maesters we have mentions of answers from them or ravens sent to them. They are not well equipped but after the first battle or two it is not even relevant, they can loot the enemy corpses. Not gathering in time is also no excuse, a second gathering can be done after some time though there's mention of if Robb needs more troops then he'll ask. Still feels cheap that mountains spat out men when Stannis needs, Dany getting "men" when she needs, Tywin getting Tyrell alliance immediately after getting his ass handed to him by Edmure etc.

Edit

Was there?  I must have missed that

Yeah id say assuming the full strength of the north might be needed in future  woulda made more sense for robb

Yes. You can search the Jon chapters it was either Maester Aemon sending letters for the defense of wall or Stannis sending letters demanding support

Tyrion, Tywin, Stannis et al plot armour. Tywin gets so lucky, Tyrion has the thickest plot armour in the series followed closely by LF, and Stannis has deus ex machina to aid him and has troops spawn out of thin air. If Stannis needed to have more troops just have him lose slightly fewer in the Blackwater rather than granting him magical northern troops spat out from the hills.

At least the show made it funny when plot armor was applied (Tyrion gets conked on the head and sleeps through the Battle of the Green Fork)... ;)

Yes, funny indeed. In the sense that Robb's Northmen are even more fanatical than Stannis' religious zealots that they agree to die, going 2000 against 20000 and Tywin being so damn stupid that he can't judge the size of a 2000 men army and not think anything is amiss.

When I was reading it, I remember being put off by the amount of people referenced because I never knew how to remember this and that and this again. It was a large read and I am still fathoming how there could be so many characters with a story each. He built an amazing world.

Actually in books during Battle of Green fork TF Bolton had almost as many men than TF Lannister. But most Northmen were infantry and so they had more infantrymen than their enemies. But they only had couple hundred horsemen. When Westermen had over 9000 cavalrymen.

Yes and Roose even took Tywin unawares, but GRRM not knowing numbers(talking about Tywin's camp size and the speed of men gathering), Gregor's impossibly massive horse breaking the Northern lines etc. caused him to lose battle more than lack of cavalry. Seriously Roose goes unnoticed by Tywin's outriders to the point they are too close to them. He could've used his small cavalry contingent quite effectively, sending them ahead to cause confusion.

Yea Gregor rushing at the spear wall. Getting stabbed several times and then getting up like he’s just fine. George loves giving The Mountain as much plot armor as possible, for some daft reason.

Didnt it say they were sticking out of him?

Now on the flipside he is supposed to be wearing heavy pate with mail and thick boiled leather under it so it could be plausible that the spears just about penetrste  the plate and break off with the impact but arent enough to go through both the chainmail and boiled leather underneath,or bot deeply enough to trouble a giant doped up on  poppy based pain meds!

As far as I know chainmail is just for exposed joint areas, they don't wear chainmail under, but Gregor may very well do.
