Football: Boehly has a little Lamp

Recommended Posts

Since the old thread was beyond the 20 page mark and you lot didn't bother.

As for the title, it's an alliteration, and I felt like given the amount of rageposts soylent produced over the years, he clearly deserves a good send off. ;)

Garnacho leaving the stadium on crutches with his foot in a boot. Yet another one of our players (after Van de Beek and Eriksen) potentially out with a serious injury because of a scissor tackle that was not even punished with a yellow card.

Just makes the red card even more annoying. Scissor tackles are at least as dangerous as coming over the top of the ball with your studs, and they used to be punished accordingly, but they haven't been for a while. To be clear I don't think that was bias against us in any way, it'd almost certainly not have been punished whoever did it, but it was just as bad a challenge as Casemiro's, with similar circumstances and a far worse result, but it didn't even warrant a second look.

Arsenal are getting healthy at the right time. This is going to be one exciting run in with Arsenal's being harder than City's. We're starting to catch up on goal difference though.

Considering United’s approach against Liverpool, it’s a bit rich to complain that their opponents aren’t seeing consequences from referees.  McTominay didn’t see red for coming studs-up through Gakpo’s upper shin.  And that was at a point when United had clearly targeted Gakpo for rough treatment to take him out of the game.  And Bruno had two blatant dives go unbooked, not to mention striking the referee’s assistant.  And Shaw was blatantly wrestling and obstructing attacks for the last twenty minutes but the referee had just decided to stop whistling against him, and the TV crew just stopped showing replays.

I hate to see players getting injured by dangerous tackles.  It rewards the thugs and takes the skill out of the game.  But perhaps don’t be such egregious offenders before complaining.

edit: correction on McTominay

Next world cup is going to go on and on and on. 12 groups x 4 teams with round of 32. 104 matches. Fuck that shit.

What, then, is the point of the qualifying rounds, etc. if they plan to have 36 teams in the tourney?
