Football: Boehly has a little Lamp

Holding has been good today which isn’t a surprise. You either get a MOTM performance or the worst, there is no in between. For a game or two here or there, it’s fine, the issue will be if we play Holding at Anfield or any serious run of games.

There has always been a player there. Think back to just after we signed him, and he put the full-fat, monster version of Chelsea's Diego Costa in his back pocket for ninety minutes.

Hopefully, working with one of the best young coaches in the world will help him bring some consistency to his game. Because we're going to need it.

Funniest things are Leverkusen's goals.

Bayern were 1-0 up at halftime.

Second half Adli goes down in the penalty area after challenge by Pavard and wants a penalty. The referee (Stieler) says he dived and showed him a yellow. VAR calls. Stieler off to the review area. No dive, no yellow, but a penalty.

Adli goes down again, this time after a challenge by Upamecano. Rinse and repeat. He wants a penalty, Stieler says he dived. VAR calls, review area. No dive, no yellow, but a penalty. Well, there was yellow, this time but for Upamecano.

I couldn't help but think that Sancho's confidence must be so low to miss that

Nah, he didn't have a particularly good game but that chance was harder than it might look. Shooting with his left as he stumbled would have been a bad idea, he had to set himself and that let the cover get back. Could have gone far corner but it wasn't a sitter or anything.

Mitrovic should be out for a while. Not just pushing the ref, but needing to be dragged off by his coaches and that.

Outbidding will not necessarily be the issue.

If you qualify for the CL and you still end up as Bellingham's preferred destination, then it's more an issue of meeting Dortmund's asking price. That again will depend to some degree on CL qualification (or a fresh injection of capital from the outside).

Bellingham himself will be a key player in whatever happens. EPL seems where he wants to go. A small indication is own physique. When he was with the English team at the Euros, he saw the bodies of his team mates there. During pre-season he sat down with the fitness coaches at Dortmund and said: This is what I want. Let's work on that. And he has gained a few pounds. Soft indicator, but it points toward next stop being England.

Yeah, I’d guess Liverpool had probably received some indication Bellingham wanted to come to us. If you look at it last summer that’d probably make sense. Assuming he wanted to come back to England the two obvious options were City and us and from Bellingham’s perspective he’d be the clear main man in Liverpool’s midfield unlike City. :dunno:

You’d also think he might be changing his mind on that front even if it was the case before this season. Also the fee would probably depend on us getting into the Champions League to have any chance of being able to afford it.

Regarding Bellingham .. is he someone who could replace a Partey / Jorginho at Arsenal?

Mind, this is just me wondering, since Jorginho isn't young and promising, and Partey could be missing for .... a long time, should the justice system so decide.
