Football: Squeaky Bum Time

It's true that there's never gonna be a genuinely objective answer here. But the reason I think Jota's yellow was okay but Skipp's should be a stonewall red is that, even if there's no actual intent to injure, Skipp is only going to make that movement if there's a player he's competing with, and he should be aware that making that movement carries the risk of stamping on his opponent. Thus, recklessness. Whereas Jota was making a move with the assumption that no-one was there. Thus, inattention. Inattention can still be reckless, hence I wouldn't fly off the handle over a red, but they're not the same thing.

Think I see where you're coming from, though in this case I'd argue that Jota's kick is a foul in itself - the high kick. Sure, nobody's around, you can do it. Though that's generally the case when you chase long balls down a diagonal where you've got full control on your surroundings. Middle of the park with a lot of players around you - doesn't cut it for me.

Oh, it's definitely a foul. I'm not arguing that it shouldn't have been a freekick or a yellow. Just that it's not a stonewall red imo.

Yeah, I understand.

I just think that when you go for what's a dangerous foul without having control of your surroundings, and thus are endangering your opponents, you get sent off.

ETA: Today Everton are playing. I reckon my opinions here have activated the "Everton, that"-setting, so we'll have an Everton player or two getting sent off today for high kicks. Calling it now:

That was a terrible half. We're playing a lot better football than Leicester (IMverybiasedO), but we're finishing like shit, and we're giving Jamie Vardy all kinds of space vs Michael Keane. So ... I don't know. Is Dyche not aware that his CBs are slower than my dead gran?

Also, I'm betting a season (and maybe career) ending injury for Coleman. Today sucks.
