If the dude is at 99%, he's out. Taking a blow to head sucks, and I get needing to be taken out for the game, but every time with this guy. BigFatCoward
4 of the starters on the all NBA first team are not American, and Joker wasn't one of them. Great for the game.

Has anyone fallen more in the last year than him? Luka's team sucked, but I don't think anyone has him outside of their current top five. Tatum looked for a moment like he could be the second best player in the league (no one is touching Giannis right now), but he could possibly slip to the back of the top 10 in short order. DMC
2 minutes ago, Tywin et al. said: How so? If we're talking about the top players, has he not fallen off the most? I mean, I don't keep a running list of the top 10 in my head, that's just not how I think, but he had a pretty great regular season and while his postseason has been uneven thus far, he's also had a few pretty great games. Particularly in terms of the regular season, he actually PLAYED a lot more than most of the other top guys. Which, I don't think should be discounted even if some of his advanced metrics don't look tippity-top. Anyway, just goggling "NBA Player Rankings" and taking the most recent results, The Ringer ranked him 7th on May 1 - right behind Doncic - in their ongoing rankings all season. Granted (heh), Ringer is owned by Simmons, but he allegedly doesn't play a part in the rankings. ESPN ranked the best players in this year's playoffs on April 15 - which, yeah, means no Doncic or SGA - but he ranked 6th compared to their preseason ranking of 7th. HoopsHype did the same type of rankings on the same day, and Tatum ranked 3rd. Finally, after the All-Star Break CBS did a top 50 ranking where Tatum ranked 4th compared to a preseason ranking of 9th. So, no, I have no idea where this is coming from other than an insane overreaction.
Tywin et al.
Because he keeps shrinking in the playoffs. He was awful last year in the Finals. If he was even average the Celtics would be the defending champs. He keeps coming up small in the big moments. Boston should clean Philly's clock. He had a good fourth quarter, but he was bad for most of the game. My point is he went from being on the short list of best players in the league to likely a number two.

So...when you said "in the last year" you just meant in the 12 playoff games he's played in the last month? Where in the first 11 he averaged 27/10/5 albeit on slightly below average shooting? Hohkay. Still not seeing anything.

I think that he's fallen down the list of first guy you'd take to build a team around, and I was really high on him going into the year. Just don't think he's that dude anymore. Anyways, Joker and the Nugs are straight up whipping the Suns' ass right now. I'd be shocked if they came back.
Arakasi
Simmons had a podcast yesterday where he said much the same as Tywin here. It’s not exactly a shock what he’s saying.

Simmons is not the ally I want here, lol. Some of his documentary work is excellent and he created a lot that open up careers for numerous people, but his actual sports takes kind of suck. He's a slightly better yet less polished version of Greeny. So the Suns go out like wimps again. Injury concerns and lack of depth were the obvious flaw when they made the moves they did and surprise, surprise, that wrecked them. Idk what they do going forward, but this is not going to work out well for them unless they trade Ayton for a new PG and some depth though that compromises their front court. KD and Book are a perfect pairing, even as the former ages, however, everything around them is a complete mess. Edited May 12 by Tywin et al. Ramsay B.
I think the argument is just kinda silly. Tatum is 25 and set career highs in points, rebounds and assists this season. He’s struggled mightily in like 2 games these playoffs(granted in the first half more), but I also never had him as high as the 2nd best player in the league either so I don’t think he’s fallen down the list really at all. Tbf I also read Tywin’s statement as falling out of the top 10, not just to the back of it. And I should’ve thrown some money on Nuggets. Loved them at +1.5 but didn’t pull the trigger. DMC
Heh, yeah, as I've mentioned been listening to Simmons' pods lately. Especially the ones with him and Russillo during these playoffs, they're like the epitome of recency bias and overreaction. Dudes literally go back-and-forth on takes game-to-game. And that's heightened even more when it comes to Simmons and the Celtics. 6 minutes ago, Ramsay B. said: but I also never had him as high as the 2nd best player in the league either so I don’t think he’s fallen down the list really at all. Yeah I guess a lot of the difference is I've never ranked Tatum THAT highly - especially if we're including Curry and Durant. Also, when we're talking about some of the other guys i.e. Jokic, Embiid, Doncic, SGA, it's not like they have comparatively more playoff success until, ya know, about the past week. Tywin et al.
Tatum is the best player on a team that was up 2-1 in the Finals. He's a tall two way wing that can guard every position if the other team goes small and can score from anywhere on the court. Going into the season he seemed like one of the two obvious picks for early MVP voting after Giannis. But he keeps shrinking in big moments. Unless something changes drastically over the next few weeks it's hard to call him a top five player going into next season.

I don't gamble, but if I did I would hammer them right now to win it all if the odds were good. I don't believe in either the Lakers or Warriors and the East is suddenly wide open. The Heat might actually be the most dangerous team and they're beat up as hell. Edited May 12 by Tywin et al.
