Derfel Cadarn
I really hope Dorries and Johnson Snr don’t get their ‘honours’. I suspect there would be a by-election anyway as she might quit in anger.
Spockydog
It's way past time to legislate these fucking things off the road. Or at least, make the riders subject to the same laws as everyone else driving motorised vehicles at 50mph. ‘The nicest lad’: family pay tribute to Salford boy who died in e-bike crash

They’re illegal on pavements and not registered for thr road. Unless there’s a loophole with sone of the bikes that also have a pedal facility. She’s fucking off, triggering a by-election out of spite. Which means even if Sunak was just deferring it until after the general election, she can forget it now. https://news.sky.com/story/nadine-dorries-standing-down-as-mp-with-immediate-effect-triggering-by-election-12899516

BigFatCoward
Good day for the good guys. Maybe Putin can cut his head off in a tragic shaving accident to complete the trilogy.
mormont
His resignation statement is entertaining reading, if you like bitter whinging. I like that he's insisting not only that 'I did not lie' but that 'I believe that in their hearts the committee know it'. He's not angry with them, just disappointed. I can almost see him sighing and tutting. How could the committee not know in their hearts that the most mendacious fibber in the whole country wasn't lying this time? polishgenius
That's a front page with new highs in dishonesty. I mean, they can say technically they weren't lying, Boris did say those things. But come on.

polishgenius
Weird, you must have missed the part where I said they can use him saying those things to defend themselves. But you know as well as I do that them presenting his words like that with no pushback or context is meant to make them seem justified.

I mean you described it as a new high in dishonesty, with a tweet that describes it as one of the most insidious front pages ever.. except they haven’t lied or said anything incorrect, they have reported what Boris has said. Now maybe there are a handful of people who take things that Boris said as truth but there aren’t many, and that front page isn’t agreeing with him either, not directly. So …hyperbole much? ants
