This is the kind of stuff that would likely lead to violence if I was in charge of such a library. Unbelievable. karaddin
But there are very credible replies saying that this is just end of year inventory for the library, don't you conduct an inventory by throwing everything into a jumbled pile in boxes? LongRider

When I was a student worker in libraries in community college and then university, never did an inventory. Shelf reading sure, but pulling books off shelves and dumping them in boxes? Calling that inventory is "gaslighting" bullshit. edt; no offense to you karaddin, just wanted to be sure that's clear Edited May 23 by LongRider Ser Scot A Ellison

Tywin et al.
Every school I went to kept the library open over the summer. All I recall them doing is slowly examining the shelves to make sure everything had been returned at the end of the year. Never anything like what was in that video. DMC
I hope this discussion isn't serious. OF COURSE this is not the standard way in which school discard of books. We don't need to confirm that through anecdotal evidence. It's clear nazi-esque bullshit which I will show to my class tomorrow. In Florida. Because fuck Ron DeSantis. I know that and this video shows what DeSantis is doing. If you do show this to your class, would be interested to hear some of their comments, if you care to share them. karaddin
Just to be clear - my post was sarcasm, the tweet sharing that video did have people making that argument in the replies and they're as full of bullshit as they are on any other subject where they try to dismiss concerns with gaslighting. No one that thinks dumping all the books in boxes to conduct 'inventory' is getting employed as a librarian, their standards are higher than that shit. And the end of the year can get pretty damn cold*, might want to start some bonfires and invert Prometheus. *somewhere…not sure if library season mirrors Julian calendar or academic cycle. Better bang for your buck, harder to detect/taste if mixed, etc. It’s been a long time since I tended bar, but by the standards back then I’d have put you down as either a single malt guy or an American whisky guy who thinks single malts are for posers. (Edit, and beer when beer is appropriate.) Edited May 23 by James Arryn

To me it’s the aftertaste, but really I’m not much of a drinker because I always get hangovers and rarely get drunk, so it’s like buying the ticket but not getting the ride. Also years of tending bar turned me off the smell of beer specifically. Anyways, thankfully I do not have an abnormally high tolerance to weed, so I’m not left handing out pamphlets on street corners or w/e.
