You know, honestly, all of it was pretty sad and disgusting.

I obviously had it wrong when I said the other white guys came from the tour boat to help the security guard, but I thought that was what the Chief of Police said in his press conference.

But, weirdly, did the security guard start it all by tossing his hat??? The guys who attacked him were assholes and 110% in the wrong, of course, but the hat throw seemed like the excuse they were looking for. Surely the security guard was trolling them?

What a sad, sad state of affairs.

Was it a security guard?

From what I understood reading about it is, that he was the co-captain/first officer or something from that tourist boat, telling the white squatters to move their boat. Am I the only one who gets Ron Paul Libertarian numb nuts entitlement from those white guys?

He got punched and then threw his hat. This was entirely on the rednecks at every step. Charge them with everything you can.

Can you get BFC a vasectomy invite?

I refuse to believe routine procedures even happen in the NHS

What we need is to somehow convince someone that it's an emergency

One of the surprise pluses about growing older is that even if I stumble across spoilers for a game/book/show, by the time I get around to it, I won't remember what the spoilers were.

There is the other side of that; not remembering the book after it's been read.  I've re-read several books that way.  Get into and start thinking, 'Hey, this sounds familiar...'

We arrive back home in the rain.  This was notable in mine own teenyansie brain only because even before went on our mini-vacay this week, the sunflowers were perfect sunflowers in a way I've never seen before, even here in the City.  Instead of those top heavy, hubcap size flowers, that are too heavy for the supporting stem, and thus keel over, face to the ground, these are saucer size and upright, face to sun.  All over the Adirondacks, Saratoga and Albany, there are hedges of perfect sunflowers brightening one's pathways. So we'd been doing perfect sunny summer days and sunflowers until getting to NYC. Ha!

Librarians are creative! Librarians sponsor fun!  This has been big news around here all summer, along with many events celebrating the 50th anniversary of HipHop, many sponsored by the city where HipHop/Rap was born.

How Library Cards Became the Jay-Z Merch of the Moment
Fans are rushing to collect all 13 of the Brooklyn Public Library’s limited-edition cards, which feature imagery from each of the rapper’s solo albums.

Patrons streamed toward the returns desk at the Brooklyn Public Library’s main branch on Friday afternoon, buzzing with excitement. Several posed for pictures in the building’s lobby, which was newly plastered with images of Jay-Z, then signed up for special library cards that feature artwork from the rapper’s albums.

The limited-edition library cards are the marquee souvenir from “The Book of Hov,” an exhibition honoring Jay-Z that took over the library last month.

The cards are free for New York State residents and are available at Brooklyn Public Library branches in 13 different designs, each featuring the cover art from one of Jay-Z’s solo albums. Fans, who see the cards as instantly classic pieces of hip-hop memorabilia, are tracking them down with the sort of fervor usually reserved for vinyl records or concert tees. ....

I wonder what hijinks I will get into during my Sunday Funday's. I am enacting to have Sunday be fun (not only for football season). I bought a shirt on Amazon saying "Sunday Funday" with a good-old-boy football; it arrived today. I wonder what I am going to get into, thinking of all the possibilities is fun which leads to the day of the fun. A great, big timeout from being alone all the time would be great. I believe this is the start of a new adventure!

How have I only just discovered my wife boils water in the pan for pasta, rice etc rather than boiling kettle first. Is this grounds for divorce?

What a quaint idea. I’ve never considered that. For one thing, I use a very small kettle, because there’s just one of me, and a bigger kettle would just take up space. It’s actually a question some engineers have been asked to consider, microwave versus kettle versus pot. Volume was the final consideration, more efficient to boil large volumes of water on the stove.
