Part of me is starting to wonder if she got her job because of nepotism; she's married to Ewan McGregor. Don't get me wrong, she's a talented actress and I loved her in season 3 of Fargo, Scott Pilgram and Cloverfield Lane, but she's just not vibing with the Hera character or is being given very bad direction.

Yea, she's definitely the weakest character in the show, and she's simply not conveying Hera's personality from Rebels.  She almost seems timid, even when the dialogue would suggest otherwise.

I think the strongest actor in the show remains the one playing Sabine.  I think she's the standout so far.

Overall though, I liked this episode better than the first two.  I liked the training sequence and I liked the space battle well enough.  Even though, I wish they had given a little more base to the laser blasts.

Kanan had Sabine spar with Ezra with sticks at first because he didn't think she way ready for the darksaber.

I vaguely remember that, though...they weren't bokken or fake katana things, right?

I also understand Ahsoka being older and wiser now, but I do kind of miss the young Ahsoka and how cocky and idealistic she was. She seems a lot more at peace which given who trained her and some of her fire feels a bit of a letdown. I think Dawson is doing fine with her, mind you, but I just wish she was a bit more passionate - that was, after all, a big chunk of why she left the Jedi.

I'm going to have to watch Rebels then, or you talking Clone Wars too [which I also passed on except for every now and then]

literal sticks

Ahsoka did lose a lot of that cockiness and idealism when Order 66 happened. She was a sadder character in Rebels afaik.

Mostly talking Clone Wars. She got a bit sadder in Rebels but her action against Vader was still pretty cocky and fun.

Wow, didn't mean to but watched the full scene again. So good. Much better than the later knock-off in the Kenobi show. The animators seem to have deliberately minimised some of Vader's bulk towards the end so that as he stands hesitating he looks more vulnerable and it's easier to imagine Anakin stuck in the suit.

I can't remember what she was like in the final Rebels episodes, but here she is cocky and fun before she finds out that Vader is Anakin.

I like this blogger's response to the first two episodes, pointing out that Sabine has shifted to take over Ahsoka's role.

All that said, I'm hoping that Ahsoka's distance and reserve get stripped away and she's able to rediscover some of her passion and verve.

I think the transition to semi-zen Ahsoka coming at the same time (for us, not the character) as the transition to live action Rosario Ahsoka is making it harder for me to see the two characters as the same. Probably the hardest part is the voice just doesn't feel like Ahsoka to me yet. Hoping that fades by the end of the season.

Yeah, everyone has some connection to the force, as all living beings do, I kinda got the same impression as you Wert, that it's a bit of wide scale where you have some people and species like Yoda's or exceptional individuals whose connection is so strong they can pretty much do magic instinctually but for most people, even at the Jedi level there's a wide range of how much time, effort, instruction, training, etc. is required for any given individual to reach a specific level of connection to and ability with the force.

Edit: oops didn't see that there'd been a whole other page of replies.

I'm still mad about Kenobi stealing that scene from Rebels / Ahsoka lol

I personally liked the original Memphis Belle rather than the remake.  But, it does explain why the baddies dont just power down their engines at 1000m and fire on the disabled B-17, they had to keep the space moving under their wings.  Doesnt explain why the Belle didnt crash into the planet like Dreadnaught in TLJ when it lost power.

As a side note, when I am on a Zoom call and the other people want to have a private conversation, I too get up and walk out of my office so they can have some privacy.

They can't just use Zoom's sideroom (or whatever it's called these days) feature, to go to a private chat?

It was more of a practical choice regarding the empire's limited R&D resources on Scarif.  Holoscreen 'Mute Other' button or Death Star.

It's an interesting thought on the dynamic...

Plus, you know, more Mandolorians...forget Bo-Katan! It's Sabine who's gonna be the next Mando on a show!

Actually, we're putting @Ran on the show, and they're gonna do cartwheels for us while eating twinkies at the SAME TIME. All while evading laser blast fire. It's gonna be SICK BRO! :D

Force sensitivity depends on one’s midichlorian count. This is very much still canon, not sure why you’re ignoring it.
