And yes, this is for serious.

MMM, absolutely nothing you say is "for serious". ;)

That being said, I could see a lot of these theories working out. Except for Zak's.

*mod hat* Moving to the lit forum. I know that the original poster stated he thought this belonged here as HP is a cultural phenomena. This would certainly be a legitimate arguement if this thread was discussing HP from that standpoint. As it is after 2 1/2 pages its only really dealt with making predictions for the book and discussing plot elements, allbeit in a rather unserious manner. As such it belongs in lit. If you do wish to discuss HP from a cultural standpoint rather than talk about the books themselves you certainly can do so in GC as long as that is the focus of the tread. */mod hat*

She's undoubtedly one of those self-loathing feminist ......... otherwise why give Hermy such an androgynous name?

What gives you the idea that Hermione is an "androgynous" name? I've never heard of a male Hermione. It's an ancient Greek name, and well known in Britian because it was the name of two famous comic actresses of a previous generation, Hermione Baddeley and Hermione Gingold.

Oh can we please stop killing off young women as the shocking ending? Something kind of disturbing about the trend.

SPOILER: recent horror/SF movies, don't read
after Pan's Labyrinth and The Host, I'm afraid 2007 will be the year of redemption through death of young females. Urgh.

I'm also against killing Harry, bc then he'll be remembered as a martyr, I'd like him to fade into unappreciated obscrurity. That would be fitting.

Probably because it sounds kind of like hermaphrodite.
