I had a $100 gift card to Borders left over from my birthday, so I took the opportunity to buy a few books. I still have $48 left! It's been a while since I've wandered aimlessly around a bookstore, and it was a lot of fun. I came away with:

To replace books I lent out and never got back:

Cannery Row - John Steinbeck

Tortilla Flat - John Steinbeck

Siddhartha - Herman Hesse

To read right now:

Half of a Yellow Sun - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (details in the November reading thread)

Eh...maybe. It's paperback and on a gift card, so not much harm done:

Winterbirth - Brian Ruckley

A few weeks ago I bought The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Karen Miller's The Innocent Mage - which I'm reading right now, and liking so much that yesterday I bought The Awakened Mage.

I think I was able to convince a guy to buy The Blade Itself as well. He was already checking it out, so I extolled it's virtues and the fact that all three are coming out in 6 month intervals - he said he was convinced.

I finally bought my very first (yes, in my 20 years of age I haven't read one single book by him) Terry Pratchett book in a used book store. I was looking for Small Gods, but they didn't have it, so I got Reaper Man which sounds hilarious and I love British humor :D

I am currently waiting for Amazon to bring me:

Hidden Warrior and Oracle's Queen (Flewelling)

The Name of the Wind (Rothfuss)

Before They are Hanged (Abercrombie)

A Cavern of Black Ice (Jones)

I wish they would hurry up! I am almost done with The Bone Doll's Twin and I want to get right into Hidden Warrior.

Yesterday I picked up:

Dreamsongs Vol.I - GRRM

The Lady and the Unicorn - Chevalier

Slaughterhouse Five - Vonnegut

Ysabel - GG Kay

I have so many books on my TBR shelves, I don't know that I'll ever get caught up. I guess that is a good problem to have. Much better than free time and nothing to read! :)

Daniel Abraham's Shadow in Summer turned in bookstores down here yesterday, so I nabbed me a copy.

I also noticed Elantris by Brandon Sanderson was in so I got that one too.

Thirdly, I picked up Scarlet (the sequel to Hood) Stephen Lawhead.

Massive restraint. Only picked up three:

Dreamsongs Vol 1. by GRRM

In the Cities of Coin and Spice by Valente

Selling Out by Robson

I also picked up and read the last two pages of Confessor. The last page was a self-righteous speech on living your life. I also read the first sentence of the first book(something about a vine). That is all I care to read of The Sword of Truth.

I just ordered:

Luck in the Shadows, Stalking Darkness and Traitor's Moon - Flewellling

and Cryptonomicon - Stephenson

I just finished Flewelling's Tamir Trilogy. I loved it. It was one of those that I can't stop reading, but when I get to the end I am sad that it is over. Babygirl said, "Well, just read 'em again like you always do." Well, DUH. I guess I should have thought of that! :)

Instead, I am shifting gears and reading The Lady and the Unicorn by Tracy Chevalier

Edit cause I can't type.

Edit again: UPS just delivered my books. w00t!
