Navigator, Stephen Baxter

Kitty and the Midnight Hour, Carrie Vaughn

The Secret History of Moscow, Ekaterina Sedia

Navigator wasn't supposed to be out until next week but Barnes & Noble had it on the shelves already. I bought the Kitty book since I've been hearing things about the book and author. Rothfuss talked about Sedia's book on his blog and when I saw it I decided to buy it.

Spent most of the day trying to track down The Winter King by Bernard Cornwell. Gave up on it and picked up Hunter's Run by GRRM/Abraham/Dozois and Winterbirth by Brian Ruckely instead (in hardcover and trade paperback respectively, both at half price in Galway's biggest bookshop).

I visited a second-hand bookstore recently and purchased three books.

Darwin's Dangerous Idea by Daniel Dennett. I think this book is about Darwinism. It might be a little dated

Chaos by James Gleick. This is about the "new" science of chaos, I believe.

The Last Place on Earth by Roland Huntford. The story of Amundsen and Scott's discovery/exploration of the South Pole. Part of the books hook is deconstruction of the myth of Scott as a noble hero.

I think one of my new year resolutions will be to show a bit more restraint this year when it comes to buying books. I'll probably fail when late February, early March comes a-knocking with all the new titles that gets released...

So I put a final order in before '08 to keep the shivers at bay:

The Devil You Know by Mike Carey

No Dominion by Charlie Huston

Banquet of the Damned by Adam Neville

Pirate Freedom by Gene Wolfe

If "No Dominion" is as good as "Already Dead", I'm pretty much toast when it comes to keeping that resolution. Ah well... 'tis only money :P

The Virgin's Lover - Philippa Gregory

The Queen's Fool - Philippa Gregory

The Terror - Dan Simmons

I have no idea when I will get these read, but I can't help buying more and more. :)
