Stubby
OK. Its looking like the first stop as we head east will be Edinburgh, then on to St Andrews on the Saturday. If the Edinburgh crew feels like a pint then we're game. Hopefully we won't stink by then. (Mrs Stubby does not stink.)

Vestrit
Stubby, are you around in Edinburgh any point soon? I can't make it to St Andrews, but me and Vestrit could see about meeting you for a pint during the week? Actually if you're around next Wednesday, we'll probably need a male sub in our touch team... Its looking like the first stop as we head east will be Edinburgh, then on to St Andrews on the Saturday. If the Edinburgh crew feels like a pint then we're game. Hopefully we won't stink by then. cool, let us know which day you hit town and we'll organise somewhere to meet and I'll PM you my mobile number. Vestrit, may I congratulate you on your rapid assimilation into Edinburgh culture there. Why, thank you. I try

tenalpia
So does this mean that the Stubbies are going to be in St Andrews on Saturday 27th? If so then I could probably do with a bed for Saturday night if that's ok Mormont I'd cleared the whole weekend to cover all possibilities so if plans change I can switch... Are many of us going to make it to the Meet the Stubbies Weekend? Looking forward to catching up with all who can make it. I can bring my trusty sleeping bag again if it helps save on the washing. mormont
OK, folks. Last word from the Stubbies is that they will be coming to St Andrews direct from Campbeltown, so no Edinburgh stop as far as I can tell... that also means they'll be here Friday night, not Saturday. Hope that's OK, ten? They will also have no net access until then, but I have a contact number. So, anybody else up for it? Or ae you partied out? Vestrit
Down in London at a wedding I'm afraid. Plus, I got a PM from Stubby. They can't come to Edinburgh now, going straight to St Andrews, so Zak and I won't be showing them the town this week.

tenalpia
Hmmmm... I'm beginning to get a complex - every time I agree to meet up everyone comes up with convenient excuses not to make it should I be worried? Are the Stubbies just coming for Friday night or for Saturday too, Mormont? I should be able to make the Friday as I was originally planning to come over then anyway. Is anyone else coming? I don't want to get in the way and bugger up your weekend
mormont
ten - not sure how long the Stubbies are staying, I have to call Stubby later and I'll ask him. But Friday night is definite. And under no circumstances will you be 'in the way', I assure you. You're welcome any time!
tenalpia
Here's some photos of our Meet the Stubbies night / day in St Andrews. Ser and Lady Stubby were great and not at all hobbit like. They have a house with a moat which makes them the coolest people I know We had a fun evening of drink, food and chat in a few of St Andrews' pubs and restaurants. There was Ser Stubby and his Mrs, Mormont, Bran the Builder (I hope I got the right board name ) and we met Bran's lovely girlfriend later on when we weaved our way back to Mormont's. When we finally surfaced this morning we had a really interesting look round St Andrews Castle including a visit down a mine / counter-mine that confirmed my suspicions that I do not wish to be reincarnated as a dwarf Then we had lunch and ice cream and I had to make my way home. Thanks Mormont for the loan of your very comfortable sofa bed. I hope that the Stubbies enjoy York, that they have a safe trip home, that we meet again, that they find internet access soon and that they pick up some great shower caps to really top off their UK trip
mormont
Excellent photos, ten: thanks! And yeah, you got the right board name. Vestrit, got your text earlier, it was a real shame you couldn't make it, but thanks for taking the time to text us. Ser Stubby and Mrs S were lovely, great guests, a real delight to meet, and very generously treated us to dinner: nice one mate. ten, it was also lovely to see you again and hopefully we'll meet up soon. The sofa bed is always free. The Friday evening was typical if relatively sedate BwB fare: lots to drink, lots of chat, but alas no karaoke or dancing. The trip to the castle is always fun: I only wish Bran had been there, he knows so much more about it than I do, my half-remembered snippets were probably not all that informative. Lunch was nice, despite the efforts of the wind gods to steal anything that wasn't carefully secured: alas ten had to leave after that. The trip to the golf course, I think could have been longer, but we were still trying to fit in the cathedral and we were all a bit knackered. Oh, and everyone was very tolerant about the tooth problem. Still hasn't come out.

mormont
They also provided my breakfast: Vegemite on toast for breakfast, mmm. And yeah, the tooth problem was fixed last night with the aid of a toothbrush.

BranTheBuilder
Yes, Ser and Lady S are superb people, great conversationalists, very funny and totally COOL! They are also very generous (cheers for the great meal) and top folk to know! Here's to the rest of their grand tour of the UK and what should be the World's Coolest House Warming with their Moat! As always it was a pleasure to see folk from the board... we need to arrange another get together sometime soon!
mormont
Bran - hey, I was round at your place this morning. Doesn't that count as a get-together? Btw, the Stubbies enjoyed the re-enactment show at Whitby you recommended so much they called to make sure I told you so.
